Future DLC Suggestions (Not Dawnguard) [merged similar topic

Post » Sat Jun 16, 2012 8:42 am

I'm going to assume that Bethesda has been working on more than just Dawnguard, in terms of DLCs, since last November.

Like Todd said, its been seven months since Skyrim's release and we're finally getting the first DLC in Dawnguard. Now, don't get me wrong, I'm very excited about this DLC but it does not seem that its going to be the same size as something like Shivering Isles, which I would consider a true expansion pack.

What I'm getting at is if it took seven months just to make Dawnguard, we'll probably be waiting a bit for the larger DLC(s) that Todd has eluded to. Hopefully there have been different teams working on different DLCs and there won't be too large of a gap between the release of Dawnguard and the next DLC (possibly Hearthfire), which hopefully will provide a new landmass to explore somewhere.

Todd said Dawnguard will be between the size of Knights of The Nine and Shivering Isles. And i do think that they have at the very least been brain storming about the DLC.

"Just to make Dawnguard," I'm going to assume you've played and completed the DLC then?

But it can't have been "just to make Dawnguard." He also mentioned that the Creation Kit was another big project, and of course they have been adding new content (not just bug fixes) in patches. I don't know how work is distributed at Bethesda Game Studios, but it seems like they've had people working on a number of things that improve the game, rather than just Dawnguard. Also, Todd Howard said that there would be less expensive (and thus likely smaller) DLCs too. They might be released in between larger DLCs so the wait doesn't feel as long.

I'm pretty sure they already trade marked the name Hearthfire. So, I'm sure they have alot of it atleast planned out, if not already in the works.

No, Todd Howard said that not every DLC would be 20 dollar's. There will be bigger and smaller DLC's.

I know. I guess I'm just a tiny bit bummed out because I was looking forward to a large landmass to explore after seven months. I'm sure this DLC will be outstanding. In fact, I can't think of one DLC from Bethesda that hasn't been good.

They similarly trademarked Dragonborn and the patent was for downloadable content for PC and consoles as well as mobile devices. This was a little while before the Hearthfire trademark. However, the Dragonborn or Hearthfire patent may just be for an app.

Well, Hearthfire just sounds like a DLC name. Also, Esbern talks about a dream where the colors of the sky were of "dawn and hearth fire" or something along those lines, sounds like they are setting up for something.

It seemed to me like your were saying that every DLC after Dawnguard would be smaller.

No, I was saying that the smaller ones might come out in between bigger ones so that waiting for the next large DLC won't feel as long. I don't think we disagree.

I would love it if Bethesda had two more DLCs in the course of Skyrim's life time. I've compiled somewhat of a list of what I would like to see in terms of plot and implementations.

Second Major DLC - This DLC would be released sometime around Holiday 2012. It would be the Werewolf equivalent of Dawnguard, taking the Dragonborn to the Daedric Realm of Hircine's hunting grounds. This DLC would feature spears and flails, along with new perks for Werewolves. This DLC would be heavily catered for melee and stealth characters. In addition, it would feature a new map with new dungeons, quests, etc.

Third Major DLC - This DLC would be released during the Summer/Fall of 2013. It would be the largest DLC, in comparable size to Shivering Isles. This DLC would also be similar to the Broken Steel DLC from FO:3 in that it would expand the Main Quest and Civil War past their endings. In this DLC we would feature the defeat of the Thalmor, their annihilation would occur inbetween the events of Skyrim and the time setting for the next TES, and we would be given closure within the books of TES:VI. It would be great if this DLC was catered towards magic users, adding a plethora of new spells (similar to the Midas Magic mod on Nexus), and a patch that would balance magic, but that patch should really arrive a lot sooner.

What are your thoughts and personal wishes for the next DLC(s)?

There is already a Lycanthropy perk tree in Dawnguard...

I'd just like to point out that the dawnguard dlc already adds werewolf perks which im glad for because werewolves in skyrim felt like a bit of a let down in terms of power by the time i became one i was already stronger without using it. Besides having a werewolf centric dlc right after a vampire themed one seems just a little corny to me I would like to see a dlc were we go to Morrowind and see how the eruption of red mountain affected it and I suppose it would'nt be to unlikely to find a few spears there.

What do I want to see?

Thalmor, lots of dead Thalmor.

Also, a DLC that places the Dragonborn with an effort to rebuild Helgen would be cool

As we may all know Dawnguard is coming out soon but after it what do you want next?

For me I would like to have a dlc that explains the disappearance of the Dwemer. Ruins of their civilazation are everywhere but there's little information about them
