XP gain has stopped - bug? (Perhaps) Me? (Certainly possible

Post » Sat May 26, 2012 8:14 am

I'll admit up front I've used the console, and carefully too, but I could have typo'd something and did this.

My character's XP gain has simply stopped. Stuck at level 10 with about 80% of the progress bar filled in, but it just isn't moving past that point.

Anyone have any bright ideas, or have had this happen to them as well?

Thanks in advance.

Setting all skills to 100 will do that? Huh. Didn't know that.

I haven't done that, no, but I did set a fair number of them to 99 and rolled them to 100 with experience. But about half of them are in the teens still. I'll do some experimenting, anyway, thanks.

Anyone else?

Are you using the skills that aren't 100? If no skills are leveling up you get no xp.

You only gain experience to the next level when a skill levels up.

Ah. Well, that might explain it.

Thanks, appreciate it.

XP = skill level gained. Each time a skill progresses from, say, 10 to 11 you gain 11 XP points. From 20 to 21 you would gain 21 points. If you set artificially a skill to 100 you don't gain anything and the level advancing mechanism breaks.

Yep, that was the reason. All sorted now, thanks to everyone who posted in.
