Game Breaking Bug (Contains Spoilers)

Post » Thu Nov 15, 2012 8:31 pm

Found my first major bug in Dishonored, and I know exactly how to recreate it.

Spoiler
Problem: When going to "take care of" the High Overseer, the doors to where he and the Captain are open on their own, then the High Overseer and the Captain run out in search for you, as if given a tip as to where you are.

Cause: If you go to the meeting room before releasing Martian, then go back to free Martian. Upon returning to the meeting room the bug takes place.

EDIT: Well it's not exactly game breaking as you can still go on whether or not it happens, but when it happens it automatically counts as being detected. And as I am trying to do a full Ghost run, that is a game breaker.

I am having the same issue. Really annoying and seems pretty silly that a bug like this would even exist in the first place (is there a script that says "turn everyone on alert when player enters Overseer's meeting room"? why would you even put that in there in such a situation?).

It sounds like a fairly easy fix. Expect the first update to deal with it, hopefully.

Spoiler
Why would you not free Martin when you first come upon him?

I wanted to see if the story would progress without him. But
Spoiler
If you don't free him, the wine glasses aren't even in the meeting room. And the Overseer and Captain never walk in.

Actually, I still encountered the bug even after freeing him as soon as I reached the courtyard. It seems like something else is causing it. It's not a huge deal but it's still pretty annoying that I can't finish the mission "ideally."

On second thought, this is probably staying in the game. Martin is an important part of the rest of the story, so ... you can't exactly not free him. "Fixing" this would require a lot of work.
