Game crashes during ending slideshow : Fallout: New Vegas

So i've tried to see it 7 times now, it crahes every time, not on the same spot however. I've restarted, updated video and audio drivers and disabled mods, is there anything else to try?

From you dxdiag I can see your video-card driver is indeed up to date and I can see you have the ffdshow codec installed.
I don't know if this codec can cause crashes on the ending, but I do know it can give trouble with Fallout.
If you haven't already made an exception for Fallout, then you can follow these steps:

1. Launch the ffdshow video decoder configuration window. You may access this through the start menu. If you have installed any codec packs, check the start menu entries of those. If you can’t find it on the start menu, right click the ffdshow video decoder (red) icon that appears on the task-bar when a supported video file is playing, and select ‘ffdshow video decoder’ option from the menu.
2. Tick the ‘Don't use ffdshow in’ check-box if not already checked.
3. Press the edit button that is next to the text field. A new dialog box will pop up. Press the Add button. The ‘Add incompatible executable file’ dialog box will be displayed. Browse to the Fallout New Vegas installation directory and locate the main game .exe file. Select it and press open. Close all dialog boxes currently open by pressing OK. (Or you can simply type falloutnv.exe at the end of the text field next to ‘Don't use ffdshow in’ check-box)
4. Repeat steps 2-3 in ffdshow audio decoder configuration (the blue icon in taskbar) window as well. It is important that you add falloutNV.exe to both ffdshow audio and video decoder’s exceptions list.

The other thing that comes to mind is the d3d9.dll file.
I don't know if you use this or not, but if you do, then please remove it, because it is known that the ending might crash while this dll is active.

Nice PC.
But the vidcard is marginal - it uses only 128-bit DDR3 memory (and there is only 512MB).
My own vidcard uses 256-bit GDDR5 memory, giving 4 times your vidcard's memory bandwidth.
So I get ~120GB/s, you get only ~30GB/s.
Anyway, it got you through the game and into the slideshow! So it must have run okay...
Funny that it's choking only now...?

Well it's a three year old system, that wasn't that good to begin with. Runs New Vegas on high settings on 1920x1080 resolution with acceptable (>30) framerates. It must be something in the video that causes the crash, however the start video has never crashed :shrug:

I've been thinking of upgarding the graphics card, but the CPU being what it is i doubt it would too useful. Propably build a new system in a few years.

Yeah your video card should not be presenting a problem with the ending slideshow. It is possible that some variable became mis-set and pointed to a non-existent ending slide. The crash during ending slides issue seems to be a hard one to nail down just like the save game corruption issue. I'm hoping it's one of the things touched on in the upcoming patch.

Ok this is happening to me now as well, but i beat the game three times and saw the end slides just fine. Now I am always crashing after the first or second. Anyone know what's up? I am dying of curiosity about the end slides on this run so if anyone figured out a fix plz tell me.

Even with ffdshow removed you still have a large number of proprietary codecs. It's possible one of those is interfering but... you're able to watch the intro without difficulty correct?

Even with ffdshow removed you still have a large number of proprietary codecs. It's possible one of those is interfering but... you're able to watch the intro without difficulty correct?

Yes. Just tested, five times in a row the intro runs without any issues, never had any problems with Fallout 3 either.

Maybe you've tried this, but verifying game cache?
Restoring the a .bak save (quicksave and/or autosave)?

Few more ideas:
graphic settings (not sure why but worth a try perhaps)

What does it do during a windows clean boot? Might try that.

It is possible that theres a mod issue somehow. Unfortunately its hard to pin down. You would have to disable all mods and do a test run with just the vanilla version to verify.
