As the topic suggest my game crashes on start-up and has been for days now. I have recently only done two things, installed a new game via steam and that game updated Microsoft Distributable software to 2013 version. ever since then the game has crashed. I have validated the install via steam and it says that the game is fine, I have reinstalled and the game still crashes on "press any key to continue" screen.

Use system restore and go back to before you installed the new redistributable. Next time, try to cancel out of the installer that tries to make this change.

Or, find out what the redistributable changed, and reinstall that your self. It's usually DirectX, but sometimes it is C++ or a dot net framework.
