Game crashes on title, works when I use headphones?

Post » Mon May 14, 2012 11:19 pm

Ok ladies so I played 2 hours after it was released in Australia on steam, fair enough using headphones I was (default sound output was set to USB HEADSET). Showed my friend Skyrim and accidently left on the headphone default setting on from last night (oops) close game to change my oh so bad mistake. Changed it to my regular speakers and lo and behold game crashes as soon as I mouse over anything in the title screen without fail. One reinstall later and still didn't work, pretty shocked, but me being the insightful person that I am figured out what I changed from last night and today, I had changed where the sound comes out. I noticed a post before about people crashing on the title screen so here is some advice, Either follow what the guy said about changing the hertz ( sorry look at the thread for exact details) or you can simply try running it through your headset and that might fix it. Seriously not happy with Bethesda, I've been a massive fan of these guys since Morrowind and for this kind of thing to happen on something so minor. -1

I believe its caused by sound sample rate being high, try dropping it down.

I don't know if this advice will help at all, but I thought id be friendly and share it anwyas.

frind our who manufactured your audio chip and download the latest driver directly from them. you might be able to find this info under "my computer devices) and will need to uninstall the current one from there too,

I had all kinds of issues using the drivers from my Motherboar maker, until I finaly went straight to Realtek and used their driver wich had about 10 updates since the one Asus was using.

Solved or mitigated a bunch of problems I had with the "fallout" games, at least.

Confirmed for fixing problem, changed from 24bit 192khz to 24bit 44khz both are "Studio Quality"
