Game crashing frequently since patch.

Post » Thu May 17, 2012 1:09 pm

Before the patch I spent around 50 hours in game and had a total of 2 crashes.

After the patch I've spent about 3 hours in game and had 3 crashes already.

Anyone else getting crashes this frequently post patch?

Shameless bump.

Has no one else been having frequent crashes since the patch?

I had 58 hours clocked up before the patch and had a total of 2 crashes.

Since the patch I have played for 2 hours and had 1 crash. (Almost immediately after patch was installed, fast tracked to Falkreath, straight into the inn and straight back out to skyrim, crashed when taking me back to skyrim. I was only in the 'inn' for about 4 seconds.

Had to do a hard reset.

So in terms of stats:

Pre patch crash rate per hour = 3.4%
Post patch crash rate per hour = 50%

One of my 2 pre patch crashes nearly blitzed my PS3. After it reset, when it booted up Skyrim it came up with a error and it didn't let me have the options to "continue" or "load". The save games where still there. I had to reformat my ps3 to resolve. Nearly 12 hours lost there... phew...

Probably up in the 80-100 hour range pre-patch, can only think of maybe 3 crash freezes.

Post-patch, 6 in 4 hours.

i have not had a crash i still think its something to do with the 3's. Thats my opinion and no evidence i upgraded mine to 320 gigs from a stock 80 gig that was partial backwards compatible. Could it be that since i have 230 gigs free its something to do with hd space.

I had 50+ hours with a total of two crashes. This morning I patched it, and it crashed 3 times in 40 minutes! I am NOT happy!!!!!

Oh, PLUS my weapons rack in Breezehome still does not work, and my display cases in the Archmage's quarters still end up dropping all items to the floor. Framerate IS much better, though.

I've been crashing a few times actually. And most of the time it was running just smoothly and normally and then it randomly freezes and stops moving. I'm not sure if its because of the patch tho.

Had 2 crashes before patch around 29h and 52h. Since then, no crashes (~3h in with a 2h session). What I first thought of being a crash turned out to be rebuilding my autosave considering waiting. I keep this on, because I can use it as a shortcut to save (the normal procedure is just horrible!). It took the PS3 about 60sec to finish the process. During that time pressing the PS-Button or holding it didn't do anything. I was just about to reset my PS3 as I saw the PS3 respond (XMB, screen with "Quit Game" ...). Since then, autosave is working quit fast. My loading times improved, although the initial loading time for areas are worse now. And, of course, I got still the framerate problem.

Numerous crashes/freezes over here... All I have left right now is a unplayable mess and a grain of salt of confidence that this issue will even get recognition

For shame

I've had numerous crashes, last time I attempted to play I switched off auto saves and that made no difference whatsoever, sometimes I can play for an hour but the last two attempts at playing have resulted in a crash within minutes.

I have the same issue. Before the patch it was laggy as you like but didn't crash, after the patch it has crashed a lot. Playing on Sunday it crashed 4 times within and hour and each time required a hard power off of the PS3 and corrupted a save file.

I'm having the same freeze/crash issues since the patch. Around 2 per playing session on the average. In a way I am relieved others have this issue as I bought my PS3 just to play this game and thought maybe it was my system. Selfish I know haha!

For those experiencing a lot of freezes post-patch... I did, too... but don't anymore.

To fix it, just load up your game save, press start, go to the settings, and then deselect all the autosave options.
This kills all autosaves except pre-boss autosaves. As such, your system does less in the background.
This should stop your constant freeze ups, and even shorten your wait/sleep/area load times.

Just be sure to save manually frequently to ensure you never lose your spot.

The constant crashing has made me stop playing the game. I hope this gets fixed soon.

That svcks... worked for me and two PSN friends who experienced the same issue the day the patch came out (my only other PSN friend who I noticed plays Skyrim I never really talk to, so I wouldn't know whatproblems he is or isn't having, but he's playing SKyrim most of the time, so I imagine he's coping qith whatever's been throw at him, lol).

Hate to break it to ya but disabling the autosaves does not change a damn thing. It perplexes me how Bethesda got away with this... What clowns

I'm getting lock ups also. Going from 50+ hours and a couple of lock ups (loads of lag in the last 20 or so hours) to virtually no lag but a lockup every hour or so.

Not sure if it's an existing bug but also seeing some dragons flying backwards now.

Will save games still work if I revert out the patch? For me I can live with a bit of lag but losing 20 minutes gaming every session is putting me off playing.

I remember one game freeze before the patch (~ 50 hours). I had 2 game freeze after patch ... haven't played more than 10 hours after installing the patch.

I never had these pre-patch but now I get them in waves. Sometimes I'll get 3-4 crashes in a row, then none for a while. They seem completely random, happening at any time, anywhere.

pre-patch had 1 crash and 1 freeze that fixed itself after 20 seconds. post patch have a crash about every hour (if im lucky to go that long) which requires hard reset every time
