Today my game started acting up and exiting to the desktop, however the game is NOT CRASHING it is still running and is minimised in the task bar, i am able to click on it and be taken straight back into the game, its as if i have pressed alt/tab to be taken to the desktop, is this a known bug and what could be causing this ?

Happens to me once in a blue moon. There's little I can do about it, either, because Skyrim can't stand being alt-tabbed any more than Oblivion could. I can't re-maximize it to continue. Just have to close it, restart and hope my last save wasn't too long ago.

Usually this isn't a game issue but a PC issue, your computer is trying to launch some background process for whatever reason, scheduled virus scan, cleaning, etc.

You could try running Game Booster to see if that prevents the issue.

Ugh. I hate when that happens. I've had Windows pop up that damn message that says it wants to reboot to install some updates. Screws my game up every time.
