Game temporarily freezes

Post » Fri May 18, 2012 12:09 pm

Been playing for some 170 hours now. It's been flawless until now, I've really not experienced ANY bugs at all, but all of a sudden I'm noticing a lag every half minute of so. The game freezes for a second, then goes back to normal again. My first thought was of course that clearing the cache would solve the problem, but it didn't help. It's not game breaking in any way, but it IS pretty damn annoying. Also, when I wait now, it takes a long time before the hours start to count down. Anyone else experiencing this? Haven't installed the game on the HDD btw, playing from the disc.

*Bump*

Seriously, noone recognizes this problem? I might add that during the freeze, the sound is normal, no hiccups there.

I highy reccommend you install the game on the HDD.. I only experience crap with complex RPG games that are running from the DVD drive (like Dragon Age 2, froze on me repeatedly until I installed it on the HDD).

Same problems for me as well, stuttering outdoors, occasional framerate dips in certain outdoor areas. 90 hours played 12 mb save size.
During the thieves guild quest in Irkngthand Slave Pens, the framerate was absolutely terrible, it was a slideshow. Once I got close to the end of the zone it went away. I have no idea what the problem was.
Might be the radiant AI that causes framerate/stuttering but I'm not a game programmer so I don't really know. Maybe they will fix these sort of issues in upcoming patch's.

I get the same problem. Until 1.2 came out I experienced no glitches. Now (after the patch) about every 30 seconds or so the game freezes on me (audio still plays fine). When I press the xbox button on my controller it seems to pull it out of the frozen state for some reason. Also, the very first companion quest where I train with that guy seemed to be what triggered the freezing for me. In addition, everyone I walk by thinks I pressed the talk button...kind of frustrating as well but it allows me to attack them with no penalty (easy training! :P)
Anyways I have faith in the dev team that this problem will be resolved, it's no different than the first 1st gen of anything - there's always bugs (look at Apple's SIRI for example). My fix is remove the patch, keep your previous games saved and just start a new game with a different character build.

Hey guys, if you could, please have a look and comment on the ps3 forum about memory leaks. Several people have predicted that the Xbox will also start showing some lag/freezing and more substantial texture drops a bit later than the ps3 (due to the 512 MB of RAM). The prediction is roughly around 200 hours but that's just a prediction. If indeed the Xbox is also showing lag or crashing it's likely a universal problem that just manifests at different times and in slightly different ways, but the upshot is that all three platforms will eventually degrade. Just at different times and in slightly different ways. The discussion where some Xbox predictions were made is here:

And the latest thread is currently page 3, here:

Thanks! Hopefully we can all work together to bring this to Bethesda's attention and get it fixed.

I was fine until I installed 1.2 (unfortunately) but I to have noticed what the OP and several other have mentioned since I installed it. Luckily I haven't had any game breaking glitches (hopefully I didn't jinks it crosses fingers, knocks on wood :cryvaultboy: ) but the frame rate has dropped in certain areas the most recent was in the DB dinning area while I was talking to Gabriella to accept a story line quest from her.
