A Game of Thrones comparison

Post » Sun May 20, 2012 10:51 pm

Ok so in Game of thrones (GOT) there is:

A dead king
A civil war taking place
Dragons have returned
GOT takes place mostly in the Northern region of the empire

These are just the similarities I see, and to make one slight LOTR reference there are always Falmer (goblins) infesting Dwarven ruins....

Nearly every single fantasy tale has innumerable references to Tolkien's fantasy world.

There is a book title A Game at Dinner.

Seems a little like convenient for me.

Really? Well, if we're making comparisons, seems as if there's a certain game made by Bioware that is REALLLYYY similar to TES V, much, much more so than GOT.

The thing is this: you're taking a couple of isolated incidents and spinning a little conspiray theory. Bethesda didn't have to copy GOT becasue they were building on games and lore that hvae been around a hell of a lot longer than GOT (or DAO for that matter).

It's like saying, wow, Bethesda conviently stole their entire story for Tolkien because, you know, they use swords . . . .

Actually, might want to recheck that one. Arena was released in 1994. The Song of Ice and Fire series was begun in 1991.
Just saying.

except dragons in GOT are tiny and only at the end.A dead king happens in many movies/games, and the fact GOT takes place in some northern regions of the empire doesn't mean anything since Skyrim itself is in the Nord while GOT goes in every direction. And don't forget there is a difference between the civil war you're mentioning. In one you have more families trying to fight for the throne and the others it's just 2 sides, rebels and empire. As for goblins in ruins that has been in many games,so no brainer here.In DAO you had darkspawn filling the deep roads, aka goblins type

Bethesda throws a lot of references into the game. A lot of people (like me) read fantasy and play rpg's. I enjoy a good obscure refrence, like that Unfriendly Competition quest from Oblivion.
