In game videos, it's like the player has a god mode on.

Post » Mon May 14, 2012 5:25 am

Did it worry others too? In dancing dog video you could see how guards beats the player from diffrent sides but with only a minimal health drop. I mean come on? It was like player was playing with god mode on. Even when the massive bear attacked and slashed, it took only few millimeters from health bar... What difficulty you think he/she played?

I really hope it was easiest. I'm gonna set the game hard as possible, no exception.

I hope the "hard" difficulty works as intended. In tutorials they usually make things easy so as not to discourage newcomers. Games like Witcher 2 where they kick your [censored] from the very beginning are rare.

In demos, the difficulty is typically turned down really low, and the player character is usually a bit more powered-up than it really would be at that level. Imagine if, in the Quake Con demo, Todd died and had to start over. Anticlimactic to say the least.

No the level 30ish one is in the E3 video. Watch the video you are talking about again and look for a level bar with a 1 next to it

In the demo Todd was a very high level character. He had 999 health I believe, and even then the dragon took big chunks out of his health bar.

In the other video, the game had just started, they're not looking to kill you a few minutes into the game. We also don't know which difficulty level the player was on.

I'm willing to bet it was "very easy". The player couldn't even shoot an arrow at a sleeping bear - I doubt they are the kind to up the difficulty for the challenge.

The player was some kind of moron for thinking he just has to tap the trigger to fire an arrow. I'm willing to bet that he's never played an Elder Scrolls game in his life before he got his hands on Skyrim.

He was in Todd mode. He was level 33 and had 500 magic 999 health and 500 stamina he obviously gave himself godly stats for the demo.

Now you know the origin of Buddha mode.

Game demonstrations are generally either pre-recorded or they use some mode that lets the character take damage, but no sincere risk of death. They feel it would be bad demonstration to show that kind of thing.

Demonstrations and journalist previews are always done on the absolute easiest setting. They don't want to be challenged, they want to experience as much of the content as possible as quickly as possible. If you were reviewing or previewing a game under strict time restraints you wouldn't want to have to waste any time reloading.

This is about the 20th time this(thread topic/concern) has been brought up. As stated over and over and above, dying while presenting your game to consumers, or getting stuck in a level with a poorly equipped character would not be very impressive.

Also remember the Oblivion tutorial dungeon. All the enemies were nerfed compared to thier normal selves.

Reviewers who played the demo have written about how they died a few times. These were ES veterans so I would imagine the difficulty will be exactly how you would want it to be.

Actually I saw the 23 min tutorial gameplay and the character there was definetly level 1, and he already killed (I'll just spoiler what he killed just to be on the safe side):

Spoiler

a bunch of guards (which should be pretty well-trained) and even giant spiders and a bear

AlthoughI dont know the difficulty setting and it is just the tutorial, it seems pretty unrealistic that a level 1 character can already fight those things (and it seemed to be really easy).

Yeah, I know, none of the level one people I've ever met in real life have been capable of slaughtering such a high number of town guards.
