Pc gamers should actually give this dlc a shot.

Post » Fri Nov 16, 2012 12:06 am

From what is seen alot pc gamers are sayings its rip off i can mod game and do same thing.

From what I played on my 360 its fa better to any build your own home mods created by modders. It offers more features and more areas to build and even build more and it offers more to do at your home. So pc gamers like my self should not write this mod off i hope bethesda puts it on pc also in a month.

Will definitely have a look when I get the chance. The only house mod I know with as much customisation is limited to a single location in Eastmarch.

I want to see this released, so the modders can expand on it....... it will make a great base for various city rebuilding mods, etc. Lots o' potential here.

Ripoff? i don't get it... Its 5 bucks which is hardly anything and mods doesnt work like this.. IMO this is way better than any housing mods out there.. I never use housing mods, i don't like the idea that i download it and i have a giant castle with 400 chests etc without me doing any quest, buying it or anything else.. The build a house mod, im not so sure about, but i highly doubt it works as good as this DLC.

I'll be buying it when it is released to PC. I wasn't going to but after reading some threads here it sounds rather cool.

After playing dlc on 360 i know what mod i want on pc already. A mod that makes it so there is no loading screen when entering your house just make it part of the world.

I'll be picking this up eventually. Even if I never play the DLC itself, the resources will come in handy for the CK.

We'll surely do it, to date there are no mods able to accomplish what Hearthfire does.

So instead of creating something exceptional, they went with the "good enough" approach. Bethesda is becoming so predictable.

Seems to be a ripoff of this mod: http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/18480

Except the adopt children part. Also i just love how they keep releasing dlcs instead of fixing bugs and hammering out performance issues! *Looks at Esbern* who is STILL bugged ever since release.

The modders could also focus on expanding the adoption system. Currently, it so far appears that you can only adopt children of the human races, and the elves and beast races are still missing child races for them (which Bethesda will most likely never do, probably using the argument that it goes against the lore they've established).

I mentioned that last part because they have stated that elves may go centuries without having any new children being born assuming the population remains constant, leading to a possible rumor that elven children do not exist and that elves reproduce through a manner alien to the other races, and the Khajiit have been implied to lack real children as well. Their explanation for the lack of Argonian children is probably that they do not leave Black Marsh until they are advlts, and it may be possible that they have shorter childhoods, though they've also been implied to have a much longer life expectancy than humans, so it's not certain if the shorter childhood idea really fits in with that part of the lore, which has existed since at least Morrowind.

Still, there's really no actual lore reason as to why these races lack children other than the fact that Bethesda just doesn't want to spend the time to do them, probably because those races are not the focus of Skyrim (the Nords are front and center).

how "exceptional" did you think it would be for 400 microsoft points?

Exactly what I came here to post. Too many people shooting from the hip and saying that this is a mod rip off when it clearly is not. That being said I'm obviously going to drop the measly $5 on this when it comes to PC. Right now I don't use any mods for housing.. I just build a house in the CK if I feed the need. I just find it cool to have the entire process integrated into the game so that you don't have to do anything externally if you don't want to. :)

This DLC isn't a rip off, not only is there Gamejam, but this is basically a more customisable form of Raven Rock and the Great House strongholds from Morrowind, at its heart. They were among my favourite quests, as they put a new mark on the otherwise rather static map.

If nothing else, I'd say get it for the adoption system. The new dialogue and options seem to offer more depth than a mod can offer, which is always a good thing.

... That mod ripped of Gamejam.

Price has nothing to do with outputting a quality product. They chose the quick and dirty route rather than taking the time and care into making this DLC truly remarkable.
