GamersHub preview from the Gamecom demo

Post » Sun Aug 21, 2011 11:34 pm

It's the same demo they showed before but with slight differences. Like in the snow ruins there was an orc guarding and he sneaks up behind him and slices his throat.

Also it seems like they showed off the PC version over there, since he said: "From the look of the 360 footage visually it was a bit of a disappointment. The graphics were by no means poor, miles ahead of many games this year and worlds apart from Oblivion and Fallout, however compared to the amazing scenes we have seen on the PC footage it just came as a disappointment."

http://thegamershub.net/2011/08/skyrim-impressions/

Also its funny that the crowd booed when they said it was shown on a 360, just like at quakecon.

So was the axe just enchanted with lightning magic or was it really a combination of a lightning and summon spell? <_<

Not really. The technology is very dated by now, and people justly point it out.

I love how they said "Skyrim is going to be the single most epic game made in 2011." I can't wait!

Also, a triangle next to an item in the inventory represents that the item is better than the one equipped.

And then this says it best..."Walking away from the time we had watching the gameplay footage it is safe to say that Skyrim will be the real gamers choice over another overhyped game that releases in November, and no we aren’t looking at you Uncharted." That made me laugh hard. Thanks for posting this preview OP!

"The next notable section came on the way to a ruin up in the snowy mountain, not only are horses back in, albeit slightly chubby looking ones, but the animation of their movement seems a lore more realistic and less likely to be able to just climb a cliffside on the back of one."

I had noticed the appearance of the horses before, but never thought to much about it. The kind of horse they chose was done so for a very specific reason. It is the kind of horse you would use to travel around on because it is capable of going at a sustainable "jog" that not all horses can do. It's comfortable and will get you to a place the fastest because going faster would be unsustainable for long periods. I learned about this on the history channel and sorry I can't be more specific or remember the proper terms, but thought it was worth mentioning since it was an interesting detail.

I'd like to point out that 99% of what they show up until release is likely to be 360 footage...like it or not, the 360 crowd (I have one myself and enjoy it, but not for playing Skyrim) is a big target audience for them. If they showed off how much better it will look on the PC, it's gonna automatically alienate a large percentage of their customers who will be pissed off that they have to settle for less. Not everyone can afford a modern PC that'll take full graphical advantage of what this game engine can likely do, so if they see what they're not going to get...it's just not good for business

Pointing it out?
You do know how many topics there are saying that it should not be on Console?

It makes me feel bad for owning one, but if it is the price I must pay for having personal preferences then so be it!

I didn't read any new info in this, it was just a text walkthrough through the E3 footage.

If it wasn't on 360 we'd have tessellation and open cities, most likely, because it would be developed for PC and not ported to it. I'd prefer it be the other way around and that they simply cut features that the 360 can't handle due to hardware limitations, but that'd be extra work for them, so they won't do that. That's why people are bad-mouthing the 360. Current-gen consoles are holding back the industry.

I'm inclined to agree.

The gaming scene has gone like this:
2005: Teenagers: "Xbox360 is the BEST EVER"
2006: PS3 vs 360, console wars.
2007: Micro$oft fans: "PS3 has no games!"
-
-
2010: $ony fans: "xbox360 has no games!"
2011: PC Elitists: "Consoles stink, they are holding back graphical progression of videogames!"

Yeah, you're right, the fact that the primary console they're developing for has as much RAM as an iPhone and is running a version of DirectX that is seven years and two versions old and using graphics technology that is five generations out of date and that they've admitted that the main reason Skyrim will only be using the DX9 features of DX11 is because the 360 can't run DX11 has nothing to do with the fact that the game will not have features easily modded in and handled by mid-range gaming PCs out of the box. Open cities, that is, not tessellation. Tessellation is a [censored] to implement if you don't have access to the source code.

PC v. console again? If, if, if. If it was on PC only , would the graphics, and just the graphics, be better? Yes.
If it weren't for the console sales, would the game be made with the same budget? Perhaps not.
If it were made for PC, and stripped down for the consoles, would the console sales be the same? Don't know, let's see what Battlefield 3 sells like.

Not everyone has a $3000 PC that can handle the latest games, in fact most people don't.
