Hi guys

I just bought GOTY edition yesterday and spent all of yesterday trying to get the friggen game to run.

Iv found that a fresh install, with no DLC installed works
patching to 1.7 crashes on both US and UK versions of the patch as soon as its about to complete patching, it seems to load up the game and thats where it will crash and continue to crash.

ANy idea why on earth this is happening? I downloaded that codec veiwer and disabled all codecs and tried running the game but nothing. Why is it crashing on the patch?

Post a dxdiag.

Have you tried the quad-core fix? Find your .ini file in your My Documents\My Games\Fallout3 folder ...it is the configuration settings file named FALLOUT

Open it with notepad and do a CTRL+F to search for the line

bUseThreadedAI=0

.....change it to =1


and below that line add this line

iNumHWThreads=2

ok i have done that fix, not sure if its done anything yet. I afraid to patch it atm because it means ill have to reinstall for the 18th time.

it seems to have fixed the crashing when close up, but im affraid to risk patching it lol, should i try? and if bought austrlaian version of the game, do i use the UK patch?

[censored] it, i went out on a limb, disabled all AV and codecs running, changed the ini file and tried installed patch 1.7 UK it gets to 100% then trys to run the game for some reason and crashes... sigh... looks like another install... yay..... gg bethesda
