Games List

Please list games that are 1) popular, 2) LAN capable. Want to make sure there's a nice base of common games for everybody to chose from. :)

obviously call of duty and id games are popular, but here's my "wish list" of games that probably won't get played. :P

Battlefield 2
ArmA / 2
America's Army
Quake Wars
Older Rainbow Six games (cannot remember if Rogue Spear has LAN, that would be awesome)

Any other tactical gamers out there?

Okay, So this is from the Quakecon Official Un-Official forums
Just a copy&paste.

This post was by Radien on those forums.. Just thought I'd repost to help

Below is a list of multiplayer games that are confirmed playable in the BYOC. This means that for one reason or another we KNOW for a fact that these games don't have a problem with bandwidth or port blocking to the outside. We will ignore Steam issues that can be circumvented by going offline ahead of time. Please discuss and contribute. I will continue to update the list as we go. Hopefully we can get this thread stickied.

If you decide to host a server for any of these games, please post information on the BYOC Servers page.

Ash wrote:Wiper hit one of the impacts of the new network topology (no IPX/SPX), but it will also have an impact on game server browsers that use broadcasting as a key component of discover-ability.

As a result, IPX based games may only work on your local switch, if at all.

This list is also maintained in our wiki.

FPS:
Aliens vs. Predator Classic (A few years ago a talented hacker took a stab at the source code to make it happen, and the result is AvPx.exe (formerly MyAvP.exe). Download it here. Note that Gold and Standard are NOT compatible with each other, and your best bet is to run Gold Edition.)

Numerous games listed will function on the LAN, but only if they are on the same subnet
Titan Quest and Dungeon Siege will not work across subnets
These two in particular are because they have no feature allowing the manual entry of a specific IP address
