Pretty sure there are mods to "help" the graphics. More inquiring on gameplay and mechanics.

I actually just played through the entirety of the original Deus Ex about 2 years ago, and I absolutely have to say it was great. Controls were fine, graphics were fine, it was a very enjoyable experience, every bit as fun as I remember it being when I first played it in the early 2000's.

Yes, I should give it a try again. I know I tried it a few years ago as a trial and didn't like it, but I don't remember why exactly .

Totally

For me, these sales are more or less for consolidating my game library. I was able to pick up all the saints row games (+ dlc) and GTA games (aside from V) for under 20$. That's a win for me.

Well you could also try Raven's Cry or whatever they renamed it to mask the horrible launch, I mean you already played Risen 2, it can't be much worse ;)

Did they ever fix the major problems with that game? It wasnt a horrible launch, it was just horrible gameplay.

PSN now is having a flash sale, and I picked up the Season Pass of GoT. I already played Episode 1 when it was free several months ago. It is a nice game, cool artstyle that telltale uses. I just never thought it was worth the $25 for the season pass. So for $6, I was all for it.

I'm no big fan of Steam-required games, but noticed ARK: Survival Evolved on sale for $16.49US yesterday, 25 Jun 2016. I've been moderately interested in it for some time. At that price I decided to take the plunge, though I doubt I've ever play it more than casually. It's a large download. With my relatively slow DSL connection it's gonna be several days before it's totally downloaded and playable.

I'm torn between Distant Stars and Galactic Civ 3. I have a thirty dollar budget and cannot get both. First world problems!

Speaking for myself here of course, but between them Divinity is a no-brainer for me. Sure, the story may be generic, but it's got https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uD9899CBOY0, humor amid the darker themes, nice graphcis with great envrionments, and the combat system that is just awesome. Also it's co-op enabled, but you can play by yourself too, though in that case you better like arguing with yourself :teehee:
And, though it won't do you any good anymore, they released the Enhanced Edition for free.

Pillars has... i don't know. I've never made it past the first town :teehee:
Well, the character creation in Pillars is far superior from Role Playing point of view, and choices there do actually effect the conversations. Divinity has plenty of traits and perks, but mostly (not completely) they are for combat, exploration and crafting.

The story of Pillars really isn't any better, and unlike Divinity, it does not have the humor or tongue-in-cheek style to make up for it. And its quests and combat system is nothing to write about either. In general, nothing about Pillars feels inspired; it's like the devs had no real passion for it. Which is strange, because this was a Kickstarter project where Obsidian had free rein to create their own world, characters, and story without having anyone breathing down their necks.

According to an interview with one of the writers (Eric IIRC), they weren't happy even with their main story ideas and went with the least questionable one because they ran out of time. That doesn't exactly scream confidence in your vision...

Still, PoE has better writing and worldbuilding than D:OS. I didn't care about any characters in Divinity, which imo is a problem in an RPG. In the long run I also enjoyed PoE's darker, more serious atmosphere more than Divinity's goofiness, though that is purely a matter of personal preference (and there IS humor in PoE, just lowkey). On the other hand, D:OS has turn-based combat and a lot of environment interactivity, which is a plus in my book.

The Enhanced Edition (that is the only one now avaliable AFAIK) also toned down the humor a bit.
But don't worry, you can still help the old ship cat called Unsinkable Sam get a girl :teehee:

Picked up Doom, Doom 2, Doom 3 (okay, okay, I bought the Doom 3 BFG edition), Deus Ex and Fable Anniversary all for a grand total of £15.20. Bargain.
