Games that were made to be together?

Post » Mon May 06, 2013 12:22 pm

This is a thread for games that, though out of wedlock(series)should totally be sleeping together on your shelf. Similar but vastly different, it can feel like playing the same game. For me, it's

Mafia II and LA Noire. Unfortunately I haven't played as much of Mafia II as I'd like, the two still go together like coffee and cream.

If anyone responds with games that are in the same series I'll send my chimp ninjas to [censored] you up. You've been warned bishes.

inFamous and Prototype. In both, you play as superpowered individual set loose in the city, where you can wreck havoc on the populace with your new abilities while fighting other superpowered...things.

God of War and Devil May Cry series. Beat-em-ups where you take on an assortment of supernatural monsters, including a few gods along the way. Polished gameplay, slick combat, and completely over-the-top violence.

Deus Ex: Human Revolution and Dishonored. Dark and dreary first-person games with some nice open-ended mission structure and multiple ways to mess fools up. One's cyberpunk and the other's steampunk. And while we're at it, the original Deus Ex and Thief games.

S.T.A.L.K.E.R. and Metro.

No surprise there though, they're both made by the same guys.

I think a S.T.A.L.K.E.R./ARMA hybrid would one of the coolest games ever, albeit one of the hardest.

Also, this:

Not exactly more like Battlefield FPS but Star Wars themed with large maps that span to both land, sky and space. I think SW Battlefront 3 had this idea until it got shot down.

I've got to disagree. I adore the S.T.A.L.K.E.R. games, but can't stand Metro 2033. The only thing they really have in common is the atmosphere and setting.

I hate the linearity of Metro 2033 (well, it was based off a book), but I think that if they added the open world environment such as in STALKER as well as STALKER's shooting mechanics and some mixing and matching between the two games the result would be awesome.

TESO and GuildWars 2

I know TESO is not out yet, but so far from what I have seen it will be a pretty good competitor to GuildWars 2. Obviously, this will change when TESO actually comes out

Age of Empires 1/2 and C&C TibDawn/TibSun/RA1/RA2.

The very definitions of RTS. Where it all began.

Thief and Gothic. I've always heard of those games in the same sentences, and often see them listed together in E-bay auctions. haven't played either, but having read bios for both, they seem like the same type for the most part.
