Games with personal homes?

Post » Tue May 15, 2012 1:58 am

One of the big reasons I love Elder Scrolls games is the mod community, and the sheer number of house mods that have been produced. I like to imagine myself as having a livable space, and filling it with the things I collect on my journey.

The problem is, most games don't seem to have this. If there is a 'home', it's generally part of the storyline, and not really suitable for storing things.

Does anyone know of some good games with decent in-game housing, or a mod community that provides it?

The SINK in Old World Blues is one of greatest parts of owning that DLC.

I was exitited when I found out that age of Conan had architects. Unfortunately each guild only had one architect that could only build what was on the template.

Lord of the rings online lets you buy a house and furniture and paint it.

A lot of games have some sort of house:
Saints row
Vampire bloodlines
The god father
Etc

Do you mean 'decorating' your home or just storing items? If it's the latter Dragon Age and Kingdoms of Amular qualify. But neither lets you just drop loot to create bookcases etc...

Skyrim
Fallout
Sims

These let you personalise your home to an extent :)

@Emz - I can't ever remember having a home in DA appart from a tent in camp in the forests and even that didn't let me pimp my crib

I guess it still counts in a way: there's at least somewhere regular to return and something to keep junk in if you get the chest add-on. There's also the hall in Awakening which is another home of sorts, though I guess neither is really "homely"!

There's Ego Draconis which has a similar "home" once you gain access to the tower.

Fable 3 had its sanctuary.

Er... and now I'm struggling a bit. FO3 and TES players were definitely best catered for, it seems.

Lots of games let you pick a random empty house and dump stuff on the floor or in a looted chest for safekeeping, but personalized houses? I can't think of any not already mentioned. Doesn't seem to be a common thing I guess.

Good one!

STALKER Shadow of Chernobyl and Call of Pripyat don't really have player houses but there are storage chests in some villages/towns that you can use. Which you definitely need because there's a lot of crap to pick up and you won't want to sell it all.

Aye there was a chest in camp if you bought the add on. And in DA2 you had a house with multiple chests to store items. :)

Ahh I see, never bothered buying DLC for it since I only have it on loan from a friend
(had it for nearly 2 years and they've not asked for it back, nor do I play it)
