EA games won the Worst company of America 2012, wow

Post » Tue May 15, 2012 6:54 pm

I just cant believe this. Was surfing the web, and this.
http://blog.sfgate.com/techchron/2012/04/12/ea-voted-worst-company-in-america-of-2012/

and tons of other websites

What got me laughing is this.
"In a response, EA said in a statement to http://kotaku.com/5899092/worst-company-in-america-ea-says-halliburton-must-be-relieved-it-wasnt-nominated?utm_campaign=socialflow_kotaku_twitter&utm_source=kotaku_twitter&utm_medium=socialflow, a gaming news site, ”We’re sure that British Petroleum, AIG, Philip Morris, and Halliburton are all relieved they weren’t nominated this year. We’re going to continue making award-winning games and services played by more than 300 million people worldwide.”"

so i take it that, they are going to make more crap games played by more than 300m people worldwide?

Still cant believe EA beat bank of america...
i think ima stick to Bethesda game studios for now.

Why the hate for EA? I don't play a lot of their games. Only FIFA, and I quite like it. Is it because they bring out new installments so frequently (which are basically just the same game with cosmetic changes)?

I'm going to guess a bunch of gamers who don't bother to read the news voted multiple times.

From what i heard, EA buys all the good companies(e.g. bioware) and then makes [censored] sequels(e.g. DA2). They also rush their games and thus full of bugs which they wont fix. Not to mention that they are selling the good mass effect 3 ending i think. I m not sure why though, never paid attention to EA. I guess EA, is like Nexon, who didnt pay attention to their customers and treat them like [censored]. If thats the case, then my vote goes for EA, because everyone knows how bad Bank of America is, but there is no gain nor loss. However, this award might give EA something to think about, which...

i m 100% sure they wont, just like nexon.

To start off with a game publisher beating a bank that is arguably the reason for the current state of economy just makes it entirely invalid EA's response is fine because they shouldn't have "won" said reward.

But then even within a competition of game publishers/developers only EA isn't the worst Activision takes that title because they have been exploiting every penny they can from their consumers for years as well as turn away from the PC consumer base entirely and turning various franchises not just COD into cash cows. Hell you can argue Bethesda is worse then EA due to them forcing you to use a 3rd party that must be constantly online to play their Single player game.

Yeah EA svck and are probably the worst video game company, but I think it is an overreaction to say they are the worst company ever.
It reminds me of a poll in Australia where Sonny Bill Williams (a rugby player who walked out of his contract to play in the French league) was listed as the most unpopular man in Australia, closely followed by Amrosi, who killed hundreds of people in the Bali bombings.

As I understand it, EA is the General Motors of the game world.

I guess the only people voting were bratty gamers with messed up priorities
I don't how a gaming company, that has no major impact on the world, can be worse than a bank, that impacts the whole economy.

Why even post this?
Seems the criteria for the voting on the poll is "consumer who has a beef with company A", whatever the beef may be.

On the contrary: the purpose of a company is to make money. I'd think a company that puts out crappy products which millions of people buy anyway knowing they are crappy and makes a profit on said games, that's a good company.

I hate people. I hate the people who voted for EA Games as "the worst company in America" more than I hate other people. How the hell can anyone be so dumb.

To be fair some of the worst companies in the world weren't even nominated for this, but of the ones that are, a company that puts out mediocre games wins? Really?

No, that's not smug, that's putting it into perspective. Regardless of your opinion of their games, they sell, and they didn't say the games would be "played and enjoyed", just that they would be played. They simply stated facts.

However, the real point is that they know they're FAR from the worst company in America, so they pretty much let everyone know exactly how stupid they were with their votes.

What's the big deal? That list is garbage anyway. There are enough worse companies out there to replace every company on that list. This bracket was a joke.

Who comes up with a "Worst company" competition anyway? Sure there are bad companies and stuff, but walking around hating and declare who is the worst of the worst is just stupid. I'm sure people have valid opinions to be dissapointed in EA, but all the hate towards them is beyond silly.

Don't care much about EA myself, except from the fact that the make the FIFA franchise, which is one of the few series I keep buying year after year. I think they do a good job with FIFA (except from the bugs and issues), so I've never been too bothered with what they're doing.

I have to admit, I actually like EA bit more because of this statement. Good going "worst company in the world" contest! You actually made one of the most soulless game companies look good!

EA svcks sure. But there is now way they deserved the award above the jerk-offs at Bank of America.
