PC Gaming and PS4

Post » Mon Aug 05, 2013 10:12 pm

My friends and I have been talking about the difference between what the PS4 will be like and PC gaming now. I really thought the next-gen consoles would really be, well, next-gen. But apparently I'm wrong.

I'm now on the fence about what to do. I'm contemplating selling my two current consoles and just getting a gaming PC. It would have better graphics, Steam, and other stuff. I would just hook it up to my TV.

It would essentially be only for gaming until college when I would take it with me.

Thought about that before; I value my time too much to switch over to a more time consuming platform.

If its what your heart desires, go for it.

It just sounds like such an investment though. But people keep telling me that you get more for your money with PCs.

Well would it be smart to get a PC for mostly gaming and put it on a TV?

PCs do have a longevity & are very flexible.

What I thought about too is do you like having the latest hardware? You can buy a PC and keep that PC for years even past the next model which saves money if you would like to hold onto it.

I also couldn't let go of console exclusive titles.

I can't comprehend your question. Can you reword it?

I do like having the last hardware, and Steam is amazing. But I really want Metal Gear Solid V too.

I don't know what to do. Exclusives probably come second to overall quality and experience.

I'm getting a PS4, at least more than likely.

Switching to PC gaming has been a headache, mostly because I don't know a whole lot about PCs. I haven't really learned a whole lot either. Mods have been both a boon and a bane. I also don't have ANY friends who game on PC, well at least any real life ones. I know the consoles are the more limited experience but I find it to simply be more enjoyable and easy. I am also more familiar with a controller and they never seem to work properly for me on PC.

PCs are better though. You basically need a PC anyways in todays world, so it kills two birds with one stone, you have superior graphics and the ability to upgrade on a part by part basis. Steam and GOG sales are awesome. You save a ton of money on games. If you have a powerul laptop it can be incredibly convenient for gaming as well.

I am playing the Witcher 2 on PC right now and well, I love the game so far, but the gameplay on mouse and keyboard is atrocious. This has been true for practically every game for me. The controllers never seem to work well. Doesn't help that I have a mid range lap top either. For me, PC gaming has been both fun and painful. It is a hell of a lot less simple than console gaming.

Guess that is my two cents. It is better but a headache as well. Hard to tell what the new consoles will be like. PC has better exclusives though. I am just going to keep gaming on both, just going to limit my PC gaming to older or more simplistic games. I run the Witcher Two on mostly minimum settings after all. Which svcks because the Witcher 3 will have none of my saves transfer over...:(

About the TV? Sure.

If I got a gaming PC, I would hook it up to my TV just like how my consoles are now.

@Albino, I don't think I'd have a lot of trouble with PCs as my friends who are trying to convince me to switch are PC gamers themselves and will help me with anything about it.

You will. Games drop in price much faster, are on sale more often, and in general are $10-$15 cheaper at release. Also, no fee for online play, larger selection, more control options, far greater digital selection and mods. And more devs are embracing PC now, so we are getting better ports too. Everything about PC is more economical. You only get a console if you want to spend more money for gaming.

Im not well versed in that area, that's why it seems like hassle.

Are you sure this is what you want to do or is it something your friends are trying to pressure you to do?

Seems like you're very comfortable as a console user, don't make the switch if it will only inconvenience you.

I'm cool with alot of PC gamers but I prefer the playstation; fits my lifestyle and gaming habits. Different strokes for different folks.

Because PlayStation 4 (PS4) and Xbox One is releasing this year and has way more power than PlayStation 3 (PS3) and Xbox 360 video games being developed on the consoles and then ported to the PC or developed on PC and then ported to the consoles are going to have a huge leap in graphics then when 2014 comes video games on PC will have a even bigger leap in graphics.

Here read the Deep Down topic and all of the comments on page 1 and page 2.

http://www.gamesas.com/topic/1446439-deep-down/

Enjoy .

A whole bunch of video game publishing companies said that they are gonna develop their video games on PC now and then port it to the PlayStation 4 (PS4) and Xbox One.

Capcoms Deep Down is developed on PC, Electronic Arts (EA's) Battlefield 4 is developed on PC, Namco Bandai Games Dark Souls II is developed on PC, Ubisoft's Watch Dogs is developed on PC, Final Fantasy XIV or whatever is developed on PC, Kingdom Hearts III is developed on PC and Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain is developed on PC.
