My Gaming Clan is falling apart, what should I do?

Hi everyone, I'm hoping to get some feedback from this community. I've been playing an old game online now for 8 years. For those of you who are wondering, It's Unreal Tournament 2004. Well I joined a UT Clan back in 2009 that was still very active. I knew and had played with most of the gals and guys since the game came out in 2004, and I've grown very close to the people I play with nightly.

Now. Here is my problem: It seems that this particular clan is starting to fall apart. I think it's fair to say that it has run it's course and that it has had a good run. Nonetheless, membership is falling, there are less people showing up than ever before and there is a general feeling in the air that is negative. I'm basically sick of the game myself, but I and many other members show up just to chat with the friends they've made over the years.

So, I'm trying to decide if I should go ahead and split, but it is the only multiplayer game that I've ever played on this level, the rest of the games I've played are games like the Fallout Series, the Dragon Age Series, and some Borderlands....basically single player offline games where there is no social interaction.

It seems to me that if my clan is disbanding but I still want to have the social interaction with other gamers I'm going to have to find a new game and get involved with another clan. I tried skipping a few nights with my clan and played Fallout New Vegas instead but I found myself feeling disconnected and missing the online friendships and gaming that I've grown so used to. So I guess my problem could be summarized as: my clan is dying, should I try to find a new game and a new clan, or should I go it alone and just play offline.

If you have any ideas, advice or feedback, I'd love to hear it. Sorry for the long post, but I just had to get it out. Have any of you ever had this problem?

Thanks for any help, Gardenia

Perhaps you can abandon your online friends since they will inevitably abandon you, and go join up with a real life clan.

Unfortunately, that could be construed in some very wrong ways.

First off, if you miss interaction, you should try finding a new game. WoW, for all it's negative qualities (real or perceived) is going strong and boasts one of the highest membership ratings. You can try Second Life, less on the gameplay and more on the social. Or, quit online gaming entirely and join a club of some sort.

As for your clan, it depends on your rank within it. If you're higher up, I'd suggest going down with the ship, so to speak and lower recruitment. If not, feel free to split.

If you have a good computer jump on Guild Wars 2

It's new and you can start a new group of friends to enjoy the game with. But that's an MMO, and even moreso games these days are losing the need for a good 'clan' that aren't MMOs, if that makes sense :ermm:

I would suggest finding another online game and developing a new relationship with a guild/clan.

Haha, I didn't even notice that. :touched:

But like I said, try finding a group of friends you can start hanging out with.
