Gamma randomly getting darker and lighter

Post » Thu Nov 15, 2012 6:10 pm

I'm getting great frames and the game is running smoothly. No crashes. However, my gamma randomly goes between lighter and darker. It's not a gradual shift up and down; it instantly goes from like 100% gamma (100% of what I prefer it at) to 40% gamma and then back again. It does feel related to my movement in the environment, like it's a game-related visual mechanic causing the issue rather than completely sporadic (if I'm standing still in the game, the problem doesn't occur). This has never happened to me before in another game.

PC Specs:
Video: Radeon HD 7850
Processor: Intel i7-975
Mb: Asus P6X58D-E
12GB RAM
Windows 7 x64
Running at 1920x1080 on an ASUS VE248H monitor

I'm at work right now so I can't fiddle around with my video settings. But I didn't see any threads about this issue, so I wondered if anyone else has encountered this. I was using FXAA; I'll probably try MSAA when I get home to see if that has any effect.

Think I fixed the issue. In case anyone else runs into the problem, try disabling Light Shafts in Video Options.
