O levels. It's a British thing.

I did mine years ago, but I can still remember how nervous I was. :(

Did good enough though, thankfully. Good luck, XD.

O levels.

still don't know what that is.

seems kind of pointless to have a thread with some random akranym, and then not have any explanation.

I have no idea what that is. I assume it's some kind of exam.

Not discussible for you, perhaps. No one forced you to post in this thread. Do you feel the need to post in a thread about a game you don't play/aren't interested in?

If you see the title of a thread you have nothing to add to, just keep scrolling. It's really not that hard it you try.

Let's keep this discussion to the GCSE results, if you have nothing useful to add - move on. Thanks.

While I never took the GCSE since I live in the United States, I can distinctly remember the feeling of nervousness when I took my last standardized test, the ACT. It was a good bit of anxiety until I got my scores. The weeks of studying definitely paid off, let me tell you. :)

edit: as far as tests go. ive never studied for any thing in my life. I may not have gotten the best grades in my class, however during our last year of school i had retained the most knowledge and was able to pass our state general knowledge test first try. While every other student who got straight A's (which they achieved by cram studying) had to retake the test because they had not retained any of the information from the previous years.

For anyone that doesn't know, GCSEs are exams you take in the UK at the age of 16. They help you decide what you'll continue to study, and basically is a way of your school checking you're on track.

Did mine a few years ago now, but I can still remember those nervous feelings. Good luck to everyone waiting for their results! :foodndrink:

that's nice to know mirglof but this thread just for any other forumers who either want to wish luck to those getting their results/people sharing their results/people saying something about their past results.

Anyways GCSEs are the first of important exams for UK students. My results were:

English literature - A
Music - A
Maths - A
Science core - A
Science additional - A
History - A
RS - A
English language - B
German - C

So everything is amazing :)

I think the government are returning to O-levels soon, so I've heard anyway.

thank you for elaborating.

personally i wish we had something like that in the states. It is kind of random, what classes we take, and our curriculum is based on a set track. you spend X amount of time in any Math class, Social Studies, Language Arts so on. Specificly, or at least in my case, what those classes are in those categories is irrelevant to the people who assign students to their classes for the semester.

I ended up in a 3rd tier algebra class without ever taking any kind of algebra instruction. I barely passed and did not really learn any thing.

Oh do you know any articles floating about saying this? Would be intresting to know. Not even sure how O-levels differ from GCSE's. I would hope they start teaching relevant information, but I won't bring my personal vendetta against the UK's education system into this thread :teehee:

I just searched that up then, but I heard about this from my school, some teachers were talking about it and they had some mock O-Level, apparently they were really hard.

Thanks, this is intresting. I hope they make them harder. GCSE's are more or less easy to pass with a C or above. One of the reasons I was able to scraqe 5 C's and above when I don't think my pen touched paper in the four years I went to high school. Still hope they change what they actually teach in schools, it made me a bit grouchy having to learn lifeskills rapidly after school.
also to bring in a simpler exam for less academic teenagers.
Oh dear! I hope that at least includes how to live in the lessons! :teehee:
Edit: Sorry a bit off topic!

The way it works now makes it even easier, you start them in year 10, doing modular exams (i.e Module 1 Science at Autumn term), with each exam covering different topics in a subject. If you do bad you can just re-sit them, so it just encourages people to slack off as they adopt the mindset of "never mind, I can just re-sit it". It is easier, but I suppose harder in a way to get motivated to actually do well first time.

You get 1 re-sit and that has to be done in your own time rather than lesson time. Also they got rid of course work which has made things such as English harder.

My school has probably been doing it different then. Whenever we get bad results, the class normally just re-sits the exam, and we do it all in class time. The science department even switched exam boards just to make it easier for everyone to pass. I think the way the system works now, they just cram everything in so you pass your exams, nothing seems to be taught so that you remember it after exams, which kind of defeats the purpose of school and learning I think.

Anyway, I have to go in today to get my results so I will post them on here later.
