GECK decided to unload some resource files while editing?

Have something come up and not sure why.

I'm in the process of doing a port of my lightsaber mod to NV. A bit different but basically the same. Anyhow, as I'm creating the cave all is working fine. Add crystals, add lights, Hit F5 to show lighting then move on to the next one. Save after so many minutes etc.
Well, after dropping in lights and more crystal containers I started seeing red exclamation marks from all over the place. I'd hit F5 again and more Red marks appeared as if the models can no longer be found. Yet for hours I'd been working on it. no issues.

Guess my question would be if there is a limit to the amount of objects a cell can have? I had strobing lights and containers all over the cave. Even made some some tile-sets specifically for it. Wonder if I hit a memory limit on it? (shrugs). I know the models are there and work fine but am concerned about adding more and having to save it only to find out when the GECK could no longer find the resources I'll end up with an empty cave. That wouldn't be cool.

Any help would be most appreciative.

Thanks,

edit: Some spelling.

This is very odd... The only limit to a cells objects is they must be within the Havok bounds (+/- 32000 in any direction) and this creates a different bug when broken. I'm not sure what would cause your issue... Did you try entering your cave ingame to see if the red exclamations are still there? If you reload it in the geck do the models all reappear?

Just went back and tried it. Everything is fine. Could've been a memory issue. (shrugs) I did have GECK running for the last two days straight.

I'll use this as a what to do if that happens to you. Shut down GECK, maybe restart your computer, then fire it up again.

I believe the GECK has a memory issue, possibly a classic memory leak.

When the GECK is used to open an .esp then close that .esp then open another .esp and so on the GECK seems to use up memory, I mean that the GECK seems to not unallocate memory when closing an .esp then opening another.

The most obvious visual indication of some kind of GECK failure is that the "Cell window" list boxes get shorter and shorter in that they begin to display fewer lines of data each time a new .esp is opened.

What other failures may be happening I do not know. I have taken the precaution of closing the GECK frequently and restarting it fresh for any major modifications on any .esp (even when modifying the same .esp) just in case the GECK may be introducing silent errors in any editing session.

I am running my GECK in Win 7 x64 but it seems to do the same thing in XP SP3 x86.
