Getting dragons to land?

Post » Tue May 15, 2012 3:58 am

How do you guys get dragons to land? So far I have seen 2 that flew around overhead for 5 minutes and never land. I was out in the open both times, and tried shooting arrows at them but just ended up wasting a ton because they dart/dive through the air too much to be able to hit them. Do they just land randomly or is there something you can do?

I ran into a couple dragons who must have been glitched because no matter how many times I reloaded my save I couldn't get them to land. Of course this was before I got dragonrend

I try shooting them woth bows but nothing happends :(
I heard spells work from a distance, but i am RPing a warrior that doesn't use magic.

I think they just need to see you. But yeah, dragonrend ;)

If you're further in the Main Quest, use Dragonrend. (don't ask me what it is, its kind of a spoiler)
If you don't have Dragonrend, then the dragon decides if he wants to land or not.

If you roleplay you commit to playing and abiding by your own rules.

If you had massive wings and a ranged attack, you would fly around all day too, a scripted battle for every dragon would make the 'random' encounters seem lame when every single dragon behaves the same.. You decide to RP a pure warrior, you obviously will miss some parts of the game (Stealth, magic) and you have to accept that. This is not Oblivion, my friend. They aren't impossible to hit you just need to time it correctly, I've initiated battles with dragons that seemed to ignore me just by getting the hit right.

I don't think it's a glitch. If you can't nail 'em with a spell or an arrow, use the shout mentioned above. Otherwise, move on.

Dragons are usually always too scared to fight me, I can't really blame them.

Say terrible things about it's mother?

I don't know. I've had this problem only once, but usually they come down to get me. I must look tasty.
