Why not upgrade the badassery and get the Black hand reaching for the Nightingale symbol? :vaultboy:

Um, well if you're so devoted to The Elder Scrolls that you're willing to tattoo your body, I recommend getting the spelling correct. For example, you wouldn't want Nightingales misspelled on you as "nightgales". Don't expect it to attract the ladies.

How about just getting a necklace of the original Dragonborn insignia? (The symbol on the cover of the game)

Spoiler
Wow look at these debbie downers. Hee.
Seriously though, it's a bad idea. That's not gonna be one quarter as cool in ten years, and it's gonna be downright embarrassing if not by then then when you are old.

That said, the Nightingale symbol. At least that one looks neat on its own without context.

Spoiler
I understand being involved enough in the game and its lore to want IRL tokens of it, though. I kind of think replica Ancient Nord Armour would be pretty much the coolest thing to have.

Yes, I know, I am being a negative nancy on this. But for good reason.

Remember all the people that got Halo 2 tattooed on themselves before that game came out? How do you think they feel now? Halo 2 is completely irrelevant and the 4th one is set to come out.

Maybe something in dragon language. It looks alien enough so maybe when the game is forgotten ten years from now, people will think it's some strange japanese writing.

I think the OP just needs to rethink the situation. I am not opposed to tattoos, God knows I have mine. That is where my comment comes in. That is not being "Debbie Downer", it's throwing something out there to make one think.

I wished I had someone there going..."Are you sure?" when I had some done. It would have saved a lot of "What the Hell were you thinking?" and my reply of..."It seemed like a good idea at the time."

Ha! Debbie Downer....

I was joking. Hence the Hee, and the yeah actually this is a terrible idea.

I personally am opposed to tattoos that aren't for an official reason, such as a family crest or the insignia of a military company you have been a part of. I don't pass judgement on people that get them, though, I just think it's silly. With that said, tattoos in general don't age well and videogame tattoos age badly in more way than one, so yeah.

Yea...I got that. I just never heard one called that before. It continued to be amusing after that.

I will say this. There is nothing wrong with tattoos. I have mine and I love it and will never regret it. But, I took many years till I thought, "Yes, this is what I want on my body for life."

I'm glad I rethought some of my other options when I was young. Namely, that cartoon cat holding a six gun in one hand and flipping you off with the other, from an album cover I once saw. That would have been a bad one to be stuck with at 40 yrs old. I'm quite happy with the one I have. It's important to me and has meaning to my life. My next one will be for my team I have been a part of for over a decade, the next for my parents to show my respect for them and how important they are to who I am.

But honestly, a video game won't get tattooed onto my body. :D Everyone likes what they like though. There are people with Mighty Mouse and Daffy Duck tattoos.

Take your time. I've known many people to get it and regret it. Most importantly, it is YOURS. Don't let the artist add crap as their signature! We had a local artist do that a number of years ago to people.

This.

Although i think if a guy get it, it'll just look awkward. On a ladys sixy ankle? now thats another story. Even better, one on her lower back that says Skeever in dragon tongue. :D

^ This sounds like a better idea.

However I'm going to join the others and say don't do it.
If you really gotta, then take a lot of time thinking it over carefully. Make sure that it has a deeper-personal meaning behind it and not "because it's cool" or "the game rocks". Even then I'd suggest getting them to do a temp, one that will wear off in a week or so.
Don't get me wrong, I'm not against the idea of tattoos. I'm just against "bad ink". Tattoos that you regret later and end up burning off with a laser, which will likely leave a strange scar that will still attract "what's that?" questions....so they never really go away.

But, imho for what it's worth, if it goes beyond "I like it" and holds a deeper meaning, then do what you will and it will never be a "bad" tat.

My 2 cents. :)

You're going to leave the choice of a nearly permanent mark on your body up to an internet forum?

Get "I used to be an adventurer like you" on your thigh with an arrow pointing down.

No, I am not above that joke.

Or just get the arrow if you're feeling mysterious.

I like the dragon script idea, but would suggest the daedric instead.

A phrase like "I AM AND I ARE ALL WE" would be neat-o, or "CHIM".

If you get anything, at least get something that can double as another thing.

http://i1-news.softpedia-static.com/images/news2/Dawnguard-Might-Be-the-First-Skyrim-DLC-Trademark-Suggests-2.jpg If you ever don't want to sound like a Skyrim dork, you can just make up a deep and introspective story on what the "sunset tattoo" means to you.

I don't think one day is long enough to decide on something that you'll have for the rest of your life.

I would get writing as opposed to a symbol. A circular pattern of Daedric lettering with anogher circular pattern of Draconic runes inside it could be kind of cool. Just have it say something meaningful to you. Not something meaningful for the game and it will stay a coolor, at least not a negative, tattoo the rest of your life.

I suggest going down to the artist, getting to know the cost, the procedure, etc. It could take weeks, or even months to decide.

Me personally, I'm pretty sure I'm going to get a tattoo at some point, but I really haven't found a design I can commit to yet. My father has a tattoo on his right shoulder, and I may get that, but in addition I want some sort of sleeve, one that goes down and covers the chest as well. I think those ones look the best.
