Hey folks

I've just installed the Skyrim on Steam, and I'm having a very strange graphical problem. Every so often giant red exclamation marks show up in the environment, usually around some kind of event trigger. For example, I'm in a dungeon now where there is a lever to open a door. If you don't solve the problem associated with the door, pulling the lever activates a trap. But every time the trap activates about a dozen of these huge red floating exclamation marks appear over the holes in the wall where the trap is. They disappear after a second or so. It's very distracting, and shatters the immersion. It's been happening frequently, kicking off right at the beginning when the dragon arrives.

Certain items in my inventory are also replaced by the same red exclamation mark instead of a 3D object of the item.

It's almost as if certain assets are missing, or a debug feature has been left on? I'm running everything on maximum detail, at 1920 x 1080 - each and every slider is set to the maximum value.

Any ideas?

I know this effect from Fallout ..this happens, when the esm files are corrupt or the internal links show to wrong/missing objekt, which should be placed there.
The best option imo is to reinstall the complete game. Maybe one of the files is corrupt/missing.
