the first issue i had was i took that quest, and it wasnt until later when i returned to the temple (while i didnt do the quest yet) a guy asked me to escort him there. wasnt he suposed to talk to me right away? otherwise i would have completely missed him if i did that quest lol

but the real bug happend at gildergleam. i hacked my way trough those roots and the guy stopped following me, he didnt say anything to me either so i continued and extracted the sap, when i realised something must have gone wrong, so i quick loaded the game, this time i ran to the tree, waited a bit, and again the companion didnt follow me, i walked to see where he went when he suddenly came running to me which led to the other way to do this quest.

so the bug here is his walkpath turns a bit buggy arround those tree roots.
