Give me a recommendation

First no race's I'm playing a Wood Elf this time around. I have yet to use magic much in any of my other characters so I was thinking of specializing in magic (destruction/conjuration.) I welcome any Ideas for combat style or Wood Elf role-play ideas.

For a Wood Elf I would say that he most suitable class from a RP perspective would be a Ranger/Archer, with stealth and perhaps some Illusion magic.

I already did this style as an arigonian so no thanks though it is fun. I'm looking for a unique wood elf type, maybe a bound bow rather than a real one and I don't want to use stealth again as it makes it too easy.

I'm going to suggest my old Bosmer class, I went for a Ranger but I mixed it up a bit, instead of Light Armour I went with normal ole colothes (And maybe some leather boots and bracers to give me some armour), and I used some magic, just Destruction and Restoration, I had the Flame and the Rune trees maxed out and I only used Flame Runes, nothing else.

So the skills you should invest into are:
Archery
Sneak
Destruction
Restoration
Alchemy

I was thinking sword & board, heavy armor tank would be a nice change for a Bosmer!
Not sure how much of that you have done already, but I found it good fun getting stuck in with that playstyle and it is certainly a strong build.

I have found magic based characters overall the least rewarding so far (mainly PC UI issues), but illusion can be a lot of fun, and Dead Thrall from conjuration is certainly potentially nice (there are some issues with it).

Mystic Archer is a great playstyle for both playing the game and roleplaying too. I wouldn't focus on Destruction, the bow is superior if your using it from the stealth aspect.

If you do not want to go the stealth route go two-handed heavy armored master smith and poisoner Bosmer. That is about as different a bosmer as you get. Little elf wielding a huge blade covered in poison in heavy armor with all his equipment top notch.

No Destruction... Conjuration

Summons & bound bow are both great.... though a bit pricey in magicka. You'll need Adept perk if you want to cast a frost atronach and bow at the same time.

Still, My woodelf is doing the same thing.

Well, almost. I'm not actually taking the Conjuration perks because I know there is Thrall's at the end of the tunnel.

My plan is to Thrall 2 Snow Bears so it will really be like a Wood Elf Ranger :)

I've also restricted myself to "wilderness" or hide type armors... an unnecessary restriction but fun.

I also sneak though, but you could mix in some other magics in lieu of sneaking. Illusion could help sew chaos, Alteration.... well... not all that useful honestly unless you go melee/spell sword instead of ranger (can still use conjuration either way).

Actually... bound bow makes magic a pain... so... Alchemy?

It's really hard to do archery and NOT use stealth IMO... the 2 just go so well together. And it's kinda required early on until you get a proper meatshield at the very least, and preferably with at LEAST stagger and even better faster draw speed. Just using stealth doesn't mean specializing though... You can just use it to help open fights until you get your other combat skills up.
