Hey I've had skyrim for my 360 ever since it came out last November. I'm getting a new pc soon and was considering getting skyrim for it. For the people that have gone from console to pc, what do you think? Is it worth buying the game again for another platform? Is there a noticeable upgrade in graphics? Also how hard will it be getting used to the controls, since I'm used to my 360 controller?

For the mods, it is very worth it. Good upgrade in graphics and you can use a 360 controller with Windows, if you have Windows.

If you think it's worth it, go for it. It not very hard to get used to keyboard and mouse, but you can still use your 360 controller when playing the PC version. As for upgrade, it depends. I got the PC version because I was wanting that version when I could get a good enough laptop. I prefer playing TES games on the PC, anyways.

It was worth it for me. Might not be for you. Maybe it might be. Just do what you did on the 360, enjoy yourself.

Is there a way to run Skyrim on the PC with a PS3 controller? I don't like the feel of the 360 controllers. Too big and bulky.

Thinking of making the jump to PC, but seeing as I don't have one at all right now, I'm a little overwhelmed when it comes to getting one. When people say "build your own," how literal is that? I don't want to pay a couple hundred dollars for a motherboard just to muck it up trying to put it in place.

I would like to know this as well. I've been interested in switching to PC gaming for a while but it seems so intimidating? Yeah that's the word I'm looking for.

The only reason I play Skyrim on xbox, is because I got quite big TV and comfy sofa. I've been going like that for a quite awhile.
But I do know my game preformance would drasticly improve if I used mousepad and keyboard, might be because I was PC gamer for a long time, or I just don't fit in with controlers, but anyhow I don't think it would be a big issue if you use mouse/keyboard, so even if you cannot use your controler, do not hesitate to give PC a shot for Skyrim,

As for building a computer, that's not required. You can get a good computer off Newegg if you want to play higher end graphics kind of games. Getting a prebuilt one from there is probably a better idea since you can upgrade the thing later on. I haven't built a PC yet, and probably won't a few years. I plan to get one from the site I mentioned, though. If my room can handle all those cables...

This is sound advice. Plus there are several companies (whose names escape me) who will let you select what components you want, build it for you and ship it out, also might be worth joining some PC gaming forums and asking for advice in those. Good luck (and don't forget your roots )

Being able to use the console to fix bugs, cheat, test or do whatever you like.
Being able to download thousands of truly incredible mods, adding to the replay value tenfold.
Having the option of creating your own mods if you wish.
Being able to modify the INI files to change a multitude of settings.
Can take screenshots and upload them to the Steam Library if you wish.
You get to try out the beta patches, and the stable patches are released 1-3 weeks earlier than on consoles.
You can use the Steam Overlay to browse the internet whilst ingame.
You have the option of using a keyboard and mouse or an Xbox controller natively. You can also use a PS3 controller with a bit of tweaking.
Can use a monitor, a large tv and can play in 3D with a 3D monitor/TV.
Being able to tweak, modify and change the game to your hearts content.

Just a few advantages things worth mentioning. So yes, it's definitely worth it

Same with the OP I started out playing Skyrim on the console. It was on the PS3. When I got computer that could handle gaming, I bought Skyrim. I have hardly turned on my PS3 since... other then to play bluray movies. There is just no comparison. Nexus mods are awesome as well. Plenty of lore friendly ones too.

I spent 1k, and It took me about 16 hours of labor, but I think I probably saved $500 or so doing it myself. And it was kind of fun learning how to do it. Any time I got stuck with bad directions I found video tutorials on YouTube to help me along.

BTW, you should shoot for a PC that can run on Ultra + nice mods IMO... it will make the 360 version look weak...

...And yet again we have to remind someone that you can still easily do this on pc as well. If you'd prefer to play on console, more power to you, but don't fool yourself into believing that you can only play games on pc while hunched over a monitor in an uncomfortable chair with only a mouse and keyboard.

Nah.. I mean yes I do agree with you, gotta friend who is PC gamer and, God, his chair + RAT7 + wide screen = *drool*, but just in my case, I provided myself with the best option at this moment. I have a lame chair and lame monitor, so I am sticking with my sofa and xbox. I am not picky, but if I will spend few hours playing, I really want my @rse to be comfy. It is a loss for me tho, I really cannot do half as good as I can do on PC, but then again, TV is too far to hit him with my fist when I am doing bad, so.. That is just another + for me

Just like every Bethesda RPG, Skyrim is typically capable for heavy modding and developer console is just heaven sent.

Of course, its just matter of personal opinion, but I think playing a game like that (Fallout 3 / Fallout New Vegas / previous TES episodes) on XBOX or PS3 is a huge mistake if you have a PC that meets the system requirements. These games (and especially Skyrim) partly because the sand-box enviroment, partly because of the leftover content (you know, the developing time is never enough) are can't give you the fullest experience without mods. And as for bugs and questionable designer decisions (marriage candidates etc.) - you can always press ~ and voila'.

And honestly, Skyrim's system requirement are *really* friendly compared to previous TES games. They were known for causing hard times for the era's high-end PC's even with reasonable resolution and settings. And I'm not even mentioned playing in fullest quality ...

So yes, getting Skyrim for PC is a no-brainer for everybody. Google Skyrim mods or check out Youtube channels dedicated to this, and I bet you won't have doubts anymore.

As a fellow 360 player I would say that it is worth getting a pc to play games<~~ games, not just for Skyrim, but if you are getting the pc anyway then it is well worth buying Skyrim again. ( I also plan on getting a new pc about november//december.... Merry Christmas to me...lol ) Only I plan on getting a laptop ( because I need it for my work ) my old one is well old.

Check out the Screen shot thread in "hints, cheats and spoilers" you will be able to clearly see the difference in graphics. I post my own pic's their and drool over some of the mod's. Some of the pic's really do look real.

I spent $60 on Skyrim a second time to have it on PC (already had it on Xbox since November). So I'd say yes, especially since you can apparently get it off Steam for even cheaper now.

Ive had both versions since Morrowind and it's been worth it everytime. I would say get it.

I built mine (first ever build) last October in preparation for Skyrim and my big return to gaming, and the only thing I regret is that my social life took a big hit, haha.

So true. I've no idea why console users still believe this. I play PC games in my GF's old reclining massage chair a few feet away from my 23" monitor. Mouse and keyboard for first person games, and an xbox controller for third person games. Everything is perfect.
