I'm going to stop fast travel. Join me!

Post » Tue Dec 13, 2011 2:51 am

I just realized the game is so much better when you have to plan out your journeys. How long will the trip take? Where will I sleep? Will I discover anything on the way? What if I go by a differnt route?

No sir. From time to time it can be fun, yes, but I'd go mad if I had to hoof it all over the map, ESPECIALLY when I'm trying to complete lengthy quests.

I fast traveled a bit when I first got the game (until like level 5-6) then I realized I was missing a ton of content + it would make the game last much longer

Haven't looked back since. No fast travel whatsoever.. I enjoy it a lot more.

Only time I really fast travel (carts) is from one side of the map to the other.

My characters use carts, when it feels right to do so. When it doesn't, we travel by foot.

One tip for it, set all of your quests as active so that you can see all quest markers when you pull up your map, then complete all the objectives near you before moving on.

When i've been through that place a thousand times already (basically from any city to whiterun i've travelled a thousand times) i'll take the cart :) at least its more immersive so as to speak.

I've found so much stuff while just walking. For one, it's cold up here with all this damn snow.
I also found a group of people slaughtered. Why? No idea, I wasn't sticking around to find out.

I fast travel when it's to places I've already walked to. No way I want to repeat that unless I'm bored and need ingredients for alchemy.

I occasionally just for the bonus, but not that often. And fast travel FTW, people. As immersive as the game is, I have no desire to see the same stretch of the roads to and from Whiterun over and over and over again. I've got places to be and things to do, and unless I've never been there, Imma fast-travelin' man.

Now I've got the Rolling Stones Travelin' Man stuck in my head. ;)

I went to level 37ish with no fast travel, but I just had to start using it. Some quests just require an ungodly amount of travel. Even using the carriages only, it would have been maddening to do what I've done since then with no fast travel.

I never even knew that I could fast travel until now. My map has a lot of places marked down coz I was always prefer running or oftentimes riding a horse.

I would if traveling by foot wasn't so damn boring an uneventful. Occassionally you get attacked by wolves, bandits, dragons and bears for the most part. rarely does any kind of events or interesting encounters actually happen... maybe 5% of the time you travel by foot does anything happen that's actually exciting or out of the ordinary... this is the reason I fast travel; traveling by foot is a waste of time
