Gold, Gold and more Gold

Post » Fri May 18, 2012 6:11 pm

Hello, I am currently saving up for a house in Skyrim and looking for way to earn Gold honourably. Looking through previous threads I noticed other people are having trouble earning Gold too. So I thought this would be a good place for me and others to list all there discovered ways on earning Gold in Skyrim without taking advantages of any glitches.

Allow me to start off with the obvious:

  • The Selling of items you find.
  • Opening/Searching items.

Now here is an example of what I am looking for:

  • Cutting wood up with an Axe at Riverwood earns you Gold.

I hope this thread will help everyone. Good Luck.

i believe what most people are looking for is ways to earn gold 'quickly', not necessarily just earn gold. it's easy to do it's just not fast enough for most people.

Doing "Got any work?" quests in any city for the jarl′s earns you like 400g a quest and doesnt take that long.
pretty decent amount of septim for fast quests. Plus its usually about killing stuff so you get plenty of loot to sell aswell.

Took me about half an hour to afford the Proudspire Manor house in Solitude, pickpocketing peoples rings and jewellery, and things like Amethyst's, Garnets and Sapphires that're all worth a lot. Just go into one of the bars in any fairly big town and have a look to see what people are carrying.

There's probably easier ways though.

getting gold depends on how honorable u want to be with it. the honorable way of doing it is bounties, quests, and crafting. u could also do dungeons/forts and sell loot. wood cutting for that lady who asks for it also helps.

quicker, less honorable methods are pickpocketing the wealthier members of society. jarls bedrooms have interesting loot. ive found jewelry, necklaces, rings, even a staff that sold for like 500.

I' going to make a wild guess based on previous games, Alchemy. Herbs are probably all over the damn place learn a couple potions and spam make them, sell them, rinse repeat. You might have to fast travel to 5 cities or wait a lot to sell of all of your potions because of how much merchants cash merchants have on hand but I suspect this will do it.

I am at 70 Smithing with 5 perks in haggling and up to the Orc perk in Smithing. I make a armor piece(chest) then tempter it to exquisite then sell. I tend to make about 15% profit and do this until I take the smith of all heir money

I vote for Alchemy too. 2 ingredients that can be bought for less than 10g will make a 200g potion! Check this thread for more info!

Bountys reward 100g plus the bandits have collectively probably 500 gold. You can always ask for work from the companions/thieves/db

Steal stuff. Specifically, alchemy mats and soul stones. There are tons of alchemists in this world, and they all carelessly leave their stuff lying around. Take it to the alchemy shrine, make potions, sell potions for money. Make sure you charge all soul gems you have with every opportunity. Don't worry about the size of the soul too much. Once you've found a couple expensive enchants, you can enchant all of the lightest weapons/armor you find with those soul gems you stole and sell the equipment for tons.

Also, there's an ebony mine on the east coast. 30ish ingots of ebony sell pretty well, and expensive gems are common! I went there to get mats for my daedric swords, and i haven't been back so I don't know if the ore respawns.

That's another thing: you can smith really expensive jewelry without any points in smithing. Iron ore + transmutation + gems you find + enchanting = big money.
