Golem of Prague

So I just received a miniature golem figurine, which is modeled on the Golem of Prague. The figure has a wound from its right shoulder to its left hip, closed with a single suture of some kind.

What I'm wondering is, what is the symbolism of the wound? I know (some) about the legend of the golem, but I can't find anything on what that wound is all about and it strikes me as odd that it's there.

Figured I'd take a shot in the dark and throw the question out here, see if anybody in the BC has any knowledge about this.

Defiantly odd that a Golem could even bear a wound. I'm also interested in this.
