ED-E gone AFTER playing through Honest Hearts

After reading a few of the posts about losing ED-E... it seems that my loss of ED-E may be a variation on the problem. I thought it may be worth posting the details (and a bit of a whine) so Bethesda understood a different situation in which ED-E has disappeared, that maybe linked to Honest Hearts - with the hope that the pending ED-E patch covers this situation also.

Background: I have had no problems with ED-E on my current FNV profile having clocked about 440 hours including Dead Money, but not including Honest Hearts play through, all mostly accompanied by ED-E.

In this profile I have actually fully finished the initial game... reverting to a save prior to speaking to Colonel Moore and initiating the final Act when Dead Money came out and played through that DLC with no problems... ED-E all good. I then basically went hunting in the Mojave while waiting for the next DLC, being Honest Hearts. Note: I have never experienced any of the follower glitches others have mentioned for FNV.

Before starting Honest Hearts I dismissed ED-E to Primm, which I have now read may glitch ED-E out of the game entirely (refer to ED-E on Fallout.Wikia) - however every time previously I dismissed ED-E, or for that matter any of my followers, I have sent it/him/her back to their home location, not Lucky 38 (too many doors, too long waiting for loading)... with absolutely no problems.

Problem: I finished Honest Hearts this afternoon, leaving Zion, went to Mojave Outpost to get some items repaired, then went to Primm to pick-up ED-E... and no ED-E!

After reading the Forums and wiki, went back to Northern Passage and got back into Zion no problems, so ED-E seems to be not marked as still in my party - so where is he?

My question is (finally), is the next patch going to force ED-E back into the game, not just provide a way to force ED-E out of the follower party in order for people to play Honest Hearts, because I have already played through Honest Hearts. I really hope the pending patch fixes the missing ED-E glitch completely, because providing a patch that only fixes part of the problem would be an ill-considered endeavour - unfortunately, it is what I am expecting to happen.

Whining: Not to under estimate the effort it would take to program a game such as the Fallout franchise - but now having played through Fallout 3 plus all DLCs several times over and having to learn work arounds for glitches, but not to forget enjoying some as glitches as exploits, and now in Fallout New Vegas experiencing the graphics and game play glitches (one of my personal favourites is the gun and arms disappearing over the characters head every so often - it would be awesome if this was patched at some time too), plus the ever present insanely long loading times (despite the game being installed on the hard drive, and fully patched) - and keeping in mind these aren't the only games I play so I have experienced many other companies programming efforts, as I am sure most of us have.

I have little confidence Bethesda is actually going to get ED-E patched properly - although I love playing the game(s), and I must add, Honest Hearts is a very, very enjoyable DLC with some great rewards at the end, none-the-less, there are many persistent and very frustrating quirks to this game.

Thanks, in anticipation, for considering my user experience Bethesda

Did you do his quest before hand? ED-E has been known to leave after a few days if his memory hasn't been wiped. Other than that, I hope you get the answer you are looking for. :sadvaultboy:

I feel your pain, I am experiencing the companion bug and cannot start HH, even though I bought it on launch day. Have still yet to even see what new zion looks like :(

I am still waiting for them to pacth this and fix it.

I was told that the new patch would not only bring ede back, but also prevent ede from glitching out of the game from now on.

So maybe the new patch will fix it so if you go back to the HH area (i understand you've already beat it), then back to nv, ede will come back.

It may also be possible that when you start/finish the NEXT dlc, ede will be forced back into the game.

Just some thoughts. Honestly, we shouldn't have to deal with any of this, ede seems to have major bugs associated with him, and these things should have been fixed before FNV launched, or at least, some point in the past seven months with a regular patch. It could even be excusable if there were workarounds, but I've wasted hours trying to get him back, and as of yet, have nothing to show . . .
