Gonna be 1st Time on XBL. Need some help for DG...

Post » Thu Nov 15, 2012 5:10 pm

XBL = Xbox 360 Live.
DG = DawnGuard.
GS = GameStop

Yes.. Getting Dawnguard will be my first time being on XBL cause I live with Dial-Up. I'm gonna bring me Xbox to friend/family home to do the whole XBL stuff but how does this stuff works? Heck, how can I update Skyrim (Still on 1.0)? How to get DG? etc.. I feel like a noob, ik. Lol. I do know I'm gonna need some sort of code, or card, thingy from GS...

1. holy hell, dial-up! I haven't heard the EEOOEOOOEEEESSSSHHHHKKKKKSSSSHHHHHHH sound in years!
2. As soon as you connect it online, it updates your Xbox automatically, (which might take a couple hours because of your Dial-up), start skyrim FIRST to update the game!!!
3. on the dashboard, hit the info button when you have Skyrim highlighted, it should take you to the skyrim info page, along with the extras tab up the top
4. the extras tab is where dawnguard will be, can be purchased via credit card or MS points if you have any
5. you can also redeem a Dawnguard code which, so I hear, are to be sold at Gamestop by hitting the big green X on your controller, heading all the way right, and going to the "Redeem Code" menu

(optional) look up some dupe exploits online since your on 1.0 which might be helpful to you before you update :P

To update to patches, start skyrim while your xbox is connected to the internet. That will prompt you for the patch, accept it, and let that DL.

DG itself, will be under add ons if you check Skyrim or go to the game marketplace and type in Skyrim, you should see Dawnguard (expansion) price 1600 points. You'll pick that and let it DL.

Then fire up the game again.

For the cards, you would push down the center button (xbox logo) on the controller, scroll to marketplace in that menu, redeem code (enter code number)

That should give you points, if your using a pre-paid points card, or set you to a DG DL if its that sort of code. You'll get a prompt telling you what you are redeeming once code is entered.

Hopefully that makes sense, I'm fairly tired.

Well to utilize any sort of DLC (if you download it) your Skyrim game must have the newest update.

It's going to be a little confusing connecting to Live for the first time since you don't have a gold account. From what I understand you don't need a gold account to download updates or purchase DLC. Basically what you're going to do is just load up your Xbox and sign into your account. Sign in to live then load the game. A screen will pop up asking you to update the game. click yes and you're off!

Luckily Xbox makes it easy to figure things out. Once you sign in then connect to the internet you will have no problem figuring things out.

A friend told me that your first XBL Account on the Xbox will get some Gold Memship time for free.. (Kinda a way to 'lure you in', I guess.. So I shouldn't worry about me memship stuff if this is true.)

I think you're right. I think they give out a 48 hour trial. That should be more than enough time for you to take care of what you need to. Although I don't think a gold account is neccessary to buy and download stuff, only to play the games online. They wouldn't want anything to hinder more sales now would they?!

Still.. After I get Dawnguard and update Skyrim.. I could use some other codes, like 'Grunt Funeral', then use that Gold Memship and actually play online for once. Even if I don't get a trial, I have a code from a Halo game that'll give me 2 days lol.
