Good news, I can apparently now absorb a dragon's soul while it's still alive. Bad news, it's skeleton is still attacking me and I can't hurt it and it won't leave me alone. Dx

More bad news, it is now a ninja dragon. I can't see it, but it's flying around breathing ice at random stuff.

More good news, ninja dragon has died to the combined powers of a Giant and my random arrow shooting.

That is ... Rather odd. I can't offer much technical advice - the Hardware/Software forums are the professionals at that - but I can offer the basics. Restart the game/system, load an earlier save, try a new character.

Didn't use anything of the sort. Just elven arrows with an elven bow that has soul trap.

Your soul trap got wonky on you is all I can say. That also may be the problem, soul trapping a dragon is impossible with a weapon "resisted soul trap" but maybe it glitched that you killed a dragon but at the same time it was alive...

I've personally never had this (mainly cause I kill dragons in beast form) and certainly never heard of it outside of DG forums...so you seem to be SOL.

I also had this once, it happened because I approached the dragon wall before killing the dragon who guarded it. I absorbed his soul but his skeleton still attacked me.
