Good Old Games - legit?

Post » Mon Mar 23, 2009 3:45 am

Does anyone know about the Good Old Games website? A European-based website that sells digital copies of DRM-free software (like Descent and Fallout) found here: http://www.gog.com/en/about_us

I was tempted to buy some of the gamesas games that they sell there, but I don't want to go behind gamesas's back if they haven't gotten gamesas permission to sell these games.

Did gamesas give GOG permission to sell these games?

Completely 100% legit.

We're licensing our games to GOG and we get a percentage of each game sold.

So, buy early, buy often... ^_^

Yep, gamesas signed a deal with GOG (GOOD OLD Games), quite awhile ago, to sell many of their back catalog games. It's all legit and endorsed by gamesas.

Seatroll,

I see what you are getting at; it really shouldn't matter where the location is, my question is whether or not its legit. Yes, I am American. I have no problem with its basis Europe. GOG's "about us" page begins its description with "We're based in Europe" so I basically copy-pasted that. I hope there's no miscommunication here. : P

Yes, it's owned by CD Projekt, the makers of The Witcher and a major game publisher in Central Europe. The Vault - Fallout Wiki * Fallout Online * Fallout IRC Channel * Fallout: New Vegas

gamesas did sell the rights to Fallout, but kept the rights to sell the original titles (Fallout 1, Fallout 2 and Fallout Tactics. I had a dream that there might have been another Fallout game, but then I woke up.)

So, it's perfectly legit for us to have GOG.com sell Fallout.

I cannot say enough good things about Good Old Games. They provide an excellent service, and if you want to support gamesas, there are quite a variety of gamesas games on their site.

They don't keep your credit card info stored anywhere, so it could be good or bad depending on your perspective when you want to buy something. But the good news is there's no tax (at least not in my area) so what you see is what you pay.

Immediately after finding out GOG had officially launched I went there and bought Fallout 1 and 2 from them, not only to support GOG but also to send some cash gamesas's way. Since then I bought FO Tactics and Lionheart, and I'm thinking about getting Stonekeep.

They're releasing Sacred Gold via their website tomorrow for $9.99 so they're looking into expanding their list and including some of the newer games as well. But if you're looking for some good gamesas classics check them out.
