There are a handful of shoot 'em ups that you could look into. The genre isn't exactly new, but it's also not all that popular these days either, so it might be fresh to you.

Not the genre for everyone, but most do feature various difficulty settings and are great for any fan of oldschool arcade games that make you work for it.

Well those two Xbla games are fantastic. As for other exclusives, they are all terrible IMO.
