Goodbye, battle music...

From my observation of over 120 gameplay hours . You only get battle music on enemies that are stronger than you. So the stronger you become, the less battle music you will hear. Not sure how they calculate how strong you are though.

However, I do want battle against dragon always have the battle music.

I wondered if that was the case, Gatt. It seemed like a logical conclusion.

Thing is, I fought a Dragon Priest that was really tearing me apart, and there was no battle music for that, either. And whenever you open a new dungeon, aren't the monsters supposed to scale up to your level?

So after reading the (honestly bizarre) suggestions made by GStaff to make the game run more stable yesterday, I went through the process of trying some of them (obviously I skipped out on putting an expensive, non-standard SSD in my PS3). Over all, it seems to have increased the performance of my game. It's minimal, it's a crude workaround, but it got me playing again.

The music is still busted, however. I wasn't without battle music the entire evening, it did turn up occasionally, but it wasn't always correct. During a fight with an Ancient Dragon I got some boss battle music, but the serene world music continued to play underneath it. Later in the game, I got boss battle music for a couple of lowly Bandits. So very odd.

Most of the time, however, I was entirely without music.

My save date is teetering around the 9MB mark (it's currently right at 8976kb). It's gone up over slightly and come back down some. Has anyone else started to experience the music bug? My sister is still getting it, too: most of the time no battle music at all, and when it does play it starts at odd times, plays over the exploration music, and sometimes doesn't end until well after battle.

If they're looking at people's save data to try and sort out issues, how can I go about sharing my save data with them? I know how to back it up to a memory stick and I know how to put it on my PS3. Where do I send it from there? If looking at my save data can help sort out this battle music bug, I'll gladly share it. Don't suppose someone on the forum staff could point me in the right direction?

I've spent a lot of time playing this game -- over two characters, I've logged over 100 hours. There have been a LOT of nasty bugs outside the ever-present memory leak, but this one in particular has really soured my playing experience.

Sometime after I finished the quests A Blade in the Dark and The Horn of Jurgen Windcaller, the game lost it's battle music. There hasn't been a single note of battle theme in several hours of gameplay. Not even during battles with dragons. The calm, peaceful incidental music just keeps playing away. It's disconcerting, especially when an enemy sneaks up on me and attacks me from behind. The change in music doesn't just amp up the battles, it acts as a warning that something's spotted you.

I don't know what's caused this -- it wasn't the 1.2 patch itself, because I've played for a while in the wake of the patch and the music only just decided to take a hike -- but I really hope it's fixed by the "incremental patch" planned for next week. The lack of battle music actually affects the atmosphere so much that I don't even want to keep playing. I started another new character, and that one still gets battle music... but for how long? And I really don't feel like investing another 75 hours in this new character just to have it bug out too.

Please, Bethesda. Fix your game! It's a damn shame that Fallout 3 and New Vegas are still so broken on PS3, don't let Skyrim go down the same road.

Touche. :foodndrink:

I just got afflicted with this bug. Most annoying. It happened sometime after Ustengrav (The Horn of Jurgen Windcaller). Has anyone found a solution?
