So I got this inheritance letter...

Post » Sun Jun 17, 2012 5:08 am

Today I received an inheritance letter. The courrier told me that I was to receive 100 gold coins (well 90 after the tax) from Adrianna Avenicci (blacksmith in whiterun*). She somehow died.
Does anyone know why, and how to prevent this from happening since it was easy to sell loot to her when I went to my house in Windhelm.

Oh and another problem arrised with her death: Belethor from the general goods store has been closed for some days...so my guess is that he also died. Any thoughts?

Note: I didn't kill them nor did any event happen when I was in Whiterun that could have killed them.

*(sorry my mistake)

Recently when visiting Whiterun a couple of bandits have been inside the walls, and last time this happened they killed Adrianna Avenicci. So maybe that's what happened?

Have you done the Thieves Guild quest line? If not, have you ever dropped loot and then ran away? NPCs sometimes kill one another over dropped items.

I'm currently busy on doing the thieves guild questline. I never stole anything from them though.

Doing the quest line causes generic thieves to show up in towns. They're mostly cowards and get killed by the guards, but I've seen them fighting NPCs before. If they get lucky, they could kill NPCs.

I've only seen thieves in Riften and it doesn't make sense that I wasn't around when the thieve killed them

They killed Medesi in Riften on my game. Sadly I liked that lil bugger, not sure why..but he seemed like a decent lizard man.

I had three inheritance letters in one game, my first playthrough, acually. I haven't got one for quite a while now. What triggers these?

When NPCs who have a certain relationship rank with your character die, they give inheritance to you. This can happen with any and all NPCs. You can even get an inheritance letter from "Bandit" if you used console commands to get one to like you.

Now the question is, how did they die? A number of things could have happened. Random encounters such as thieves could've fought them and killed them.

Who died?

I don't even recall. It was from my first playthrough. What I mean is... Do you have to merely be friends with someone who dies to get the inheritance letter? You'd think these letters would go to their next of kin... not a friend who wanders Skyrim.

Whenever someone in my game just vanishes in death with no explanation I just RP it out. Maybe they were sick? Sometimes they just got old. Heart attack perhaps? It adds a bit more realism into the game. I like it.
