Grain mills?

What's the purpose of having them? They do absolutely nothing.

I'm guessing it was part of something, but they had to cut it due to time constraints; like logging/economy.

Right grain mills mill grain. That's their purpose.

BTW, chickens and cows provide food if you're also wondering about their purpose :)

Typical signs of a game that is not allowed to finish its main objectives when in production.
This has become standard practice in the industry.

Imagine if you bought a new Ferrari and the engine is destroyed as soon as you left the forecourt because they left out the piston rings or coolant.
A new house that turns out to have no foundations or there are a few main supports missing.
A new movie but there is part of it missing and the printed sleeve is torn and misprinted.

Yet it is acceptable for software to be riddled with problems yet sold at full price ?

Bet you feel pretty smart, don't you?

OP, they have no purpose. They perform no function other than time-killing. Probably a prerequisite to baking bread, another thing cut from the final game for their stupid little release date.

Huge part of almost all movies are missing, they cut lots of scenes they are not satisfied with, you can often find it on the second dvd with background material.

The mills probably had an purpose however they had problem with it and it was left as decorations.

Probably another way to help the farmer, you harvest leeks, potatoes and wheat, sell the spuds and the leek: For honest work, honest pay...

Then there might've been another option with the wheat, pick and grind it.

I think helping farmers around the cities help you to achieve Thanedom quicker, but who really knows.

Wow, it's another one of the Skyrim hate brigade. You're practically shouting 'attention addict!' First, why the [censored] do you consider grain mills essential content? You're making it seem like Skyrim is RUINED FOREVER! Because you can't mill grain?! "Bethesda is catering to the casuals! We can't even mill grain, Bethesda are such sell-outs!"

WTF.

It's falling out of the sky because nobody is actually milling grain or baking bread.

You still chose to buy it, and can you really look at me with a straight face and say that you were surprised that this game had bugs in it?

It would be like if you bought a new car that was infamous for having faulty engines and you went ahead and bought it anyways. Not saying that they shouldn't try to refine their games more, but complaining about Bethesda bugs is so 2005. We should all know what we're getting by now, especially since we're the biggest fans here.

Anyways, I don't think grain mills were meant to do anything. Get wheat and make flour? Then what would you do with the flour? Sell it for 5 gold? Probably just for style and immersion.

Empty bottles + water = "carry-able" water
Ground wheat = flour
Water + flour = dough
Dough + fire = bread
