Graphics for PC getting patched?

Post » Thu May 10, 2012 1:52 am

I had originally though everyone complaining over the graphics were nothing but trolls but having had a day to play it I'm finding myself disappointed. Some of the rock terrain looks almost identical to stuff I saw on Solstheim back in Morrwind! I'm playing on high because I had heard people complaining of slowdowns when playing on ultra with AMD cards, but that should not give me what I'm seeing in game.

And this lovely bit of light in riften every night...

Looks like you just need a better video card.

Running ultra high very smooth with an HD 5770 so I don't think that's it.

I honestly haven't seen any of these "bad textures" yet. I'll post some screencaps of what I'm seeing on MY monitor lol

radeon 6850
8gb of ram
2.8gz quadcore cpu

My hardware is not an issue.

All the complaints I've seen lodged with amd is the 6800 and 6900 series.

If you change to 3,4GHz Quadcore you got my specs too.
I'm hardly running on high, there's something ruining my framerates.

IIRC, AMD is a little behind on a driver update to support/fix playing Skyrim.

I can't run ultra on my HD 6950, which is much faster than your 5770. The ultra shadows immediately decimate my framerate, making it go from 30fps to 3, which means there has to be a driver issue somewhere (A friend with a 4980 or so can also run it in ultra).

I've experienced something similar, while the game itself is working on Ultra settings without a single problem, sometimes it just slows down for 2-3 seconds for no reason, like framerate drops below 10, and then it goes back up again.

I hope they fix this with simple video drivers...

How do I check the framerate, and what is optimal?
My rig should run smoothly at high, maybe ultra. So I don't get what the problem is.

Exterior cells? That sounds like the surrounding cell load drop. When the game loads the upcoming cells from the HDD to RAM the game bogs down. I got it bad in Oblivion and Fallout 3/NV. Getting an SSD helped lesson the duration and amount of FPS dropped.

Based on my experience with PC's I would definitely say its graphic driver's problem, I just hope they fix it ASAP.

I am running on Ultra settings 1920x1080, sometimes an hour goes by and there is no frame drop at all, and sometimes the game ''hickups'' in some lame hallway for no reason at all twice.

Nothing wrong with the graphics using a Nvidia card. Max settings + 3D vision enabled, no lag, looks amazing.

That's what I thought too, because not a single person using Nvidia card didnt post anything.

I'm telling you people its only the GPU driver.

Does such a problem mean my card is bad or something with the game is bad?
This was expensive, so I hope for the latter.

I've been getting scraggly textures too (But not as bad as some) Though my framerates are pretty stable, (60-25) it's mostly a driver issue, as most game companies favor Nvidia over AMD. Plus, AMD has always been that stubborn irritant that gamers had to put up with for decades.

So I have to change my AMD Radeon HD 6850 to a Nvidia one?

I've got a 5770 as well, with ultra high settings. I can confirm what Anthraxcp is saying.
