Gray faces back - even after CNTRL-F4 ?

Post » Sat Nov 17, 2012 11:20 pm

Has anyone noticed whether their custom NPC follower's faces have turned gray again?
My custom followers have, even though two days ago they were fine.
CNTRL-F4 doesn't seem to have affected this when I re-saved one of them in the CK.

ctrl + F4 still works for me. I have however noticed the default player (when coc'ing from the main menu) now suffers from the grey face bug. I thought my mod broke something, or i accidentally deleted something i shouldnt have when going through old texture files. But nothing seems to fix it. I know i can probably ctrl F4 the 'Player' actor in the CK, but id rather fix the actual issue then create unneeded facial textures.

Have you updated Skyrim? Could have something to do with that. I downloaded both the latest update and Dawnguard this morning, and i know there were no issues before that.

That's been that way since the first time I did it in like 1.2 or 1.3.

I'll have to check to see if my faces are messed up now or not.

I just had another update to steam. I have 1.7, but have not DL Dawnguard yet - I am waiting to get the next rev of my DKR mod out before I take that step.

My faces are still good. Do you have any face mods active? Always bear in mind they interfere in using the F4 export. I'm waiting on DG as well. I want to finish my next phase first and I'm a little worried about what it is going to break.

Not for me. I even loaded an autosave that used the default guy from before i updated and got DG, just to make sure it wasnt always like that and i just hadn't noticed, and his face was normal.

We were only a couple weeks into our mod, so i just took the jump and got the new update/DG to use as dependants, and restarted the esm to make sure nothing gets broken from introducing them part-way through. Most people will have them by the time we're done anyway.

Keep in mind that ctrl+f4 doesn't work when used on an NPC created in the same session you use the command in. You have to exit the CK first, reload your mod, THEN use ctrl+f4 to generate their face data. It's a pain, but as of CK 1.6.89 it hasn't been fixed yet.

Has it been verified to work?

I have version 1.6.89 of the CK.
I created a new NPC, made sure the IsCharGenFacePreset is not checked.
The only checkbox I have checked is Unique.
I then saved, closed down, reloaded, clicked on my NPC in the cell and pressed CTRL + F4 and nothing happens. I cannot make facegen for my NPC.
I then made a few more 'changes' to the NPC and still could not make the facegen.

There is no template data being used either.

CTRL + F4 does not seem to want to work for me.

For some reason, I tend to find it doesn't take in the CK until I add the face geometry to the BSA.

I can't think why that should be though.

Yeah, but you have to be able to make the face geometry first, which is what CTRL + F4 is supposed to do.

You need to select the NPC in the Object Window, not in the Render Window, then hit ctrl+F4, did you try that?

All my NPC's have correct faces, I don't even need to reload, after exporting the face gen data. But the default player you get after coc from the main menu has a grey face. But since this guy is only needed for testing purposes, I don't really care...

Thank you Elyanou!
I was not selecting the NPC from the object window. Works fine now.

I've also found it needs to be selected with "Actors" selected on the left. If you choose "All" and use a filter, it won't export.

That baffled me for a while.
