Veteran Points sounded a bit grindy to me but hopefully it won't be...it just seemed like the first time I heard them talk about a grind and I guess that's kind of to be expected somewhat at endgame/level cap.

Perhaps, but wouldn't you be getting them if you go to a new faction zone after you hit 50? So that's not too grindy if you're doing new content and getting them as well as sky-shards.
