Greenery?

Post » Sat Feb 19, 2011 4:14 am

So I know theres the fan dubbed 'Forest/Jungle Vault' But one thing I really loved in Fallout 3 was Oasis, granted it was a special case, it was nice seeing some sort of a forest/grass in the Wastes. My question is, will The Strip/New Vegas have any sort of green grass somewhere?

(I know it's a rather benign and unimportant thread, but the West Coast seems to be on the right track to rebuilding America, a little green grass/trees are nice for immersion)

One can only hope. We have blue skies and snow in new vegas so hopefully we'll see some more greenery too.

Well from some ingame footage I've seen the wastes are going to be more lifelike and have some green here and there.
But I've yet to see anything like Oasis.
I hope that the Jungle vault's jungle stretches a fair bit into the wastes.

There should be a good deal of greenery. For one, the Las Vegas area itself wasn't hit nearly as hard as most places, especially DC which being the capital city of the country would have taken the largest hit. Plant life out west will be well on its way to recovery whereas in DC it would be slower.

Probably about as much greenery as one would expect from a place that's mostly desert, from the looks of the screenshots so far.

The Mojave looks pretty much as the normal Mojave desert with just a little bit more ruined buildings from what I can tell from the screenshots and photos of the Mojave desert. As for The Strip, I think we already saw that there's some green and fountains inside it.

Just look at the picture of http://fallout.wikia.com/wiki/Jacobstown. It's has green healthy trees all over. Everything else I have seen shows healthy green desert plants. The trailer shows cacti.

In one of the recent interviews, it was said there would not be rain/other types of weather, but that we will see greenery (where appropriate). This is the Mojave wasteland after all, not much grows there even in modern times, so I don't expect much. I suspect lots of green in non-desert areas and no rain.

Well, that, basically. The Mojave isn't the Sahara, as too many people seem to think.

There will be plant life. It might not be that Green or Lush, but there are plants in the Desert, so it would stand to reason that there will be plants in New Vegas.

Also, it has been proven that radiation does not kill plant life (or animal life). In fact, the mutations are not occuring as originally thought

So, there is no reason for there to not be plant life and regular animal life in the area.

I hope so. But even if not, I imagine making a "greener world" mod will be very simple on release.

And also if you look at the pictures of lily the companion you can see greenery around her also, so yea i think there will be more places with green in it too.
