Greenhouse experiences?

Post » Tue Jan 22, 2013 5:14 pm

For my first pad for a brand new character I got the Falkreath house. I really like it, short hop to both Riverwood and Falkreath. A great starter home.

I put in a Greenhouse since I am into potions. I planted Blisterwort, Blue Mountain Flower, Wheat, and Imp Stool. I also need to get some Glowing Mushrooms. (I am using these for health and smithing potions.) I was curious to see how fast the things grew back.

The plants/fungi all sprouted the next day. I harvested them, then left to go adventuring. When I returned home 3 days later they had all grown back already. I was quite surprised and pleased. I may not need to pick flowers/fungi ever again. Have you had similar experiences?

I was surprised to find a bird's nest in one of the rafters. Not sure how they got in. Indeed, I am not sure how the light gets in! I also found that you get hanging moss dropping down from the rafters. I guess I should go look up what that does.

I did find one annoyance, however. Whenever I come home there are all these bees buzzing around. I suppose its is ok since they can provide stamina potions. But the buzzing is annoying, so I spend the first minute or two on my return home catching bees (much the way I pluck nirnroot just to make it shut up).

Birds nest and hanging moss?

I've had my hair and beard referred to as such on occasion.

Imp Stools, Canis Root, Swamp Fungal Pads. The outside garden is full of Deathbell.

All the paralysis and slow/damage poisons *ever*. Working great fro both levelling and use in combat.

I think Falkreath is where you can build the bee hive. Maybe the bees will go there.

no if u have an inside garden there is a bee hive with it
its on the left on the floor by the display case

Ehm...the beehive is hanging from the roof.In lakeview manor it is located in the soutern-eastern corner of the room. While at lakeview it is hanging from the middle of the roof.(note that at wistand manor the beehive glitches a lot ad may become invisible if looked from some part of the greenhouse.

I found the behive, way up on the ceiling where I can't get at it.

After another 3 day business trip I came home to find the plants/fungi had grown back again. I never knew that miracle-grow was that effective.

My follower glitches out pretty bad in the greenhouse. After planting some stuff I turned around and Faendal was planted up to his chest in the floor. Do you suppose he will grow back like the plants? I have also seen him falling through the floor near the left hand door.

I found out that each plant/fungus actually yields 5 ingredients. Not bad.

i went back to the house after several game days
the thing was filled with butterflies and bees
hanging moss and other items i did not plant
bees a nice addition
but i do not want them in the main house

that greenhouse would have been nice as a separate building

I use the greenhouse for my main storage area...cabinets and wall decorations only...no barrels, sacks, shelves, etc...

I left out the large, central planter to make getting around in the room easy and fast...

The first floor of my alchemy tower ( no alchemy table ) is my jewelry/soul gem room...

Combine Mora, Scaly and Creep or Death, Jaz and Salt or Imp, Swamp and Canis for big dollar potions you grow yourself...

I agree. I added it to my first play-through design, and wasn't impressed with it. So I loaded from a previous save and never looked at wanting a greenhouse again.

Outside garden is full of Deathbell and Nightshade. Hatchery has nothing but River Betty's.

Hello Poison of Slow...

the greenhouse is awesome. for several types of potions (fortify barter, damage health w/ lingering, fortify marksman, fortify conjuration, invisibilty) i never have to worry about NOT having these ingredients anymore. :D

but i completely agree, either the beehive never should have been there or it needed to be it's own building.

If you don't use the Alchemy skill making potions and poisons, I can see where this room would not be useful for you. I, for one, am an Alchemist by trade so the Greenhouse is a welcome addition! This is what I love about Elder Scrolls games, that you can be and do whatever you choose!

Well even a cook could make use of the greenhouse, you do not have to be some fancy alchemist.

Does the outside garden regrow fast to? Only thing missing is to have the kids harvest for you.

The two occasions I've built the greenhouse, it's froze my game. I miss not having it as it's pretty awesome.
