Grim Reaper's Sprint vs. Nerves of Steel

Post » Sun Mar 06, 2011 10:18 pm

Hey there.

I've been wanting to make a VATS based build, using pistols and sneak.
I've been looking through the perks and I was considering both Nerves of Steel and Grim Reaper's Sprint.
I wonder whether taking both would be redundant or not.
And if it's not, which one would be the better choice?

The build will also include Gunslinger, the Professional, Better Criticals and Finesse.

Can you guys give some advise or share some experiences on this topic?
Thanks!

If you are gonna be fairly VATS heavy, I would advise that you take both.

Not redundant.

GRS will not restore all your AP. What it does not restore will be regenerated by Nerves of Steel.

Agreed that if it's VATS and Sneak based, you are better off taking both. If you have one more perk than you need and definitely plan on focusing on Sneak, drop Finesse, as that +5% crit chance is irrelevant for sneak attack criticals.

I think Grim Reaper would work way better if you have Math Wrath and/or Plasma Spaz (if you use a lot the plasma weapons) for the AP reduction per shot and a high critical set up.
Like that, depending on the weapon you use, you could always keep often your AP bar full or replenish you AP bar if your weapon use less than 20AP per shot.

But like an above poster said, having both of them wouldn't hurt, wish I had one more point in agility so I could get the 2 of them...Dead Money, I'm waiting your you!

That's a good suggestion, I always considered crit based built to have Finesse without doubt, but of course Sneak crits are crits no less. :)
