Guarantee crashes

Hello,

I’m having some major issues with Skyrim that all come in the form of crashing to the desktop without any error messages. In the beginning it seem to only crash every now and then (every other hour). But now at level 57, the crashes are coming every 15 minutes.

I’ve also notice that there are some “guarantee” crash areas. If I enter the Companion Hall (Jorrvaskr) I can not leave with out it crashing. The same thing will happen if I return to the Katariah boat; a guarantee crash. Sometimes the game crashes as I walk down the road.

I’ve tried the sound fix that many users have suggested but that doesn’t fix my problem. And the 1.3.10 patch doesn’t seem to have helped either. I also have no custom patches and no idea what to try next.

Can anyone assist me with this?

i got the same problem as you but i have different guaranteed crash areas. the only fix i know is to revert to an earlier save file and see if it still crashes at those areas

all those mods and sound fixes dont solve this problem either

I've had it crash on me a couple of times but it's pretty random. Both times all I was doing was wondering around across the land and just bam, crash to the desktop.

Thankfully it's only been a couple of time so far. I'm only at level 26 so I would assume your level has nothing to do with it.

i noticed that there are almost no CTDs at the early levels, but it becomes more apparent as you clock in more time with your character

the worst part of location based CTDS is that it occurs behind the scenes. you won't know it until it surprises you

I also started crashing to desktop when my character was at high levels.
My ugridstoload was set to =7 for most of the game. Putting it back to =5 stopped the crashes. Or has made them very few and far between.

For my system atleast ,=7 was too much later in the game when my character hit the 60's. (save file of 18-19 mb)

So make sure you run default,no mods or ini tweaks and see if it still crashes as often.

Shame that with =5 there is so much popup (rocks, buildings and objects loading infront of you) but i would rather have this than crashing every 30 seconds.

You think it could be the mods, or just logging more than 160 hours. I have a bunch of mods, but have had them for awhile, just yesterday I hit 160 hrs, and havent put more than 9 hours into any character. Now it crashes alot. I loaded up one time, crash, then again crash, i couldn't play a solid 10 minutes without crash. So I turned it off for the night. I got a little bit outta today now every 15 minutes crash. I took all the mods off and same thing so not that. I cant figure it out. Maybe it is just somethign Bethesda is going to have to fix. If not I am going to return the game. I love it but if it is buggy like this then I demand my money back.

Also I tried to uninstall the game clear all the files and re-install, same thing....

i replayed from an earlier save where i could enter understone keep. a few hours later here i am, not able to access it again. it seems that this CTD is inevitable. btw i'm at 163 hours on this character. i have another character at 170 hours but no CTD issues. really don't know what the exact problem is

btw i'm not running any mods except for the 4gb mod

It's to do with save file corruption. EVERY platform, PC, PS3 and I believe Xbox are suffering from it, and the problem gets exponentially worse over time - once your save file hit 15Mb it starts to deteriorate rapidly for most users.

it's literally like a ticking timebomb. It's inevitable that eventually the game is going to bomb and be rendered unplayable.
