Guards enforcing rules.

Got to thinking, would any one besides me like to see guards enforcing certain "laws" in game?
A lot like in normal games getting caught pickpocketing or attacking friendly npc's.

Well, I doubt we'll be able to pickpocket other characters. Being able to pickpocket NPCs in an MMO is problematic in multiple areas, so I doubt that aspect will carry over from the single player games to the MMO.

Being able to attack friendly NPCs? Sure, why not :D And yeah, you should flag as a criminal when you do something like that. What sort of penalties were you thinking should be imposed?

Hmmm, not sure it would work in an MMO,i do no that faction guards work.Being a good race got you owned in EQ if you tried to enter a evil races cities unless you had an illusion spell.Don't forget their is a very good chance that a rogue in TESO will be able to pick npc pockets, can't see them allowing a rogue class to pick other players pockets to be fare.

Well the normal coins or jail system would be fine, you will leave jail immediately but lose some of your non essential skill points alchemy, enchanting, smithing etc.

However resisting arrest will put a gold bounty on you and flag you free to attack by other players who will earn gold.
Also in some cases if you kill certain named npc's if they have friends or family they will put a Dark Brotherhood hit on you and if a member kills you that person will get DB reputation/gold.

This already goes on in MMOs,you could do it in EQ and you can do it with the burglar class in lotro when fighting mobs.

I realize that, I just am going on a hunch that we won't see it in ESO. Just my opinion ;)

I think you'll find that crafters in an MMO definitely do not consider their craft skills to be non-essential :P

Hah too true! but it would be so funny to see them have to redo that long final level of crafting all over again.

Also as for the stealing I think it would be cool when pickpocketing a low chance of a rare item dropping that could be turned into the thieves guild for points would be cool.

Don't get me wrong, I think it'd be a great thing to have in the game (Stealing from NPCs) I just have a nagging suspicion we won't see it. Prove me wrong, ZMO! ;)
