Gunnar Optiks....

Can someone please explain to me the point of these? For the past two days it's been all over my Twitter feed and I don't get it. What the hell are these things? Sunglasses for video gaming? Really? Does anyone have a pair that can put any evidence to their claims?

I just can't see spending $200+ on a pair of glasses to play video games. Especially since I can go to the local eyewear shop and buy a pair for a lot less. On top of that I need prescription lenses and can get prescriptions glasses with tint, glare reduction for a hell of a lot less than what Gunnars cost. I put Gunnar glasses in the same class as I do Google Glasses. Basically the scale looks like this:

If you own Google Glasses you are a full blown [censored]. BUT, if you own a pair of Gunnars you're almost a [censored].

I can't wrap my head around what computer glasses even are. What are they supposed to do? Yeah, the Gunnar website explains it but I've never even heard of such a thing. I just keep hearing..."GIMMICK!!!" when I see the word Gunnar in a sentence.

I did not study the site, but the yellow tint can reduce the glare from blue light. Blue light is what gives us the most issues with clarity. Add to that Anti-Reflective Coating, then I can see how these glasses could help visual acuity. Here is the underlying technology by Nikon

Thing is, you can achieve all this for about $40 on any pair of glasses that you take to the eye doctor.

You know all those people who walk around with Blue Tooth Ear or Head Sets and we all laugh at them behind their backs as they walk by? With Google Glass we will start sniggering as they approach.
